Kolathur taluk is a new taluk in Chennai district of Tamil Nadu state in India.

Details

This taluk is formed by bifurcating Ayanavaram taluk into Ayanavaram taluk and Kolathur taluk. [1] Chennai district has now 17 taluks including this.

Kolathur taluk has an area of 6.24 km2 and the estimated total population of about 3.78 lakh (till August 2024) people. Kolathur is the headquarters of the Kolathur taluk. This taluk comes under Central Chennai Revenue division and belongs to Kolathur Assembly constituency and Chennai North Lok Sabha constituency. [2]

Kolathur, Peravallur and Siruvallur revenue villages come under Kolathur taluk. [3]
