JSC National Air Carrier "Kyrgyzstan Airlines" (Russian : ОАО «Национальный авиаперевозчик «Кыргызстан Аба Жолдору») was the national airline of Kyrgyzstan, with its head office on the grounds of Manas International Airport in Bishkek. It operated scheduled international and domestic services, as well as charter flights. Its main base was Manas International Airport, with a hub at Osh Airport.

History

The airline was originally Aeroflot Kyrgyzstan Directorate and was established in 1992. It signed a co-operation agreement with Aeroflot in October 1997 covering new scheduled services, aircraft maintenance, ticketing and marketing.[ citation needed ]

PJSC Aeroflot – Russian Airlines, commonly known as Aeroflot, is the flag carrier and largest airline of the Russian Federation. The carrier is an open joint stock company that operates domestic and international passenger and services, mainly from its hub at Sheremetyevo International Airport.

On 2 January 2002 the airline moved its head office to the Kyrgyzstan Airlines Sales Agency building of Manas International Airport. [1] Previously the head office was also on the grounds of the airport. [2]

Manas International Airport is the main international airport in Kyrgyzstan located 25 kilometres (16 mi) north-northwest of the capital Bishkek.

In 2005 the airline went bankrupt and was taken over by Altyn Air, which was rebranded as Kyrgyzstan Air Company in 2006.[ citation needed ]

The airline was owned by the government (81%), private shareholders (11%) and the Soial Foundation (8%). [3]

Bishkek, formerly Pishpek and Frunze, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chuy Region. The province surrounds the city, although the city itself is not part of the province, but rather a province-level unit of Kyrgyzstan.

Orenburg Airlines or JSC Orenair was a Russian airline with its head office on the property of Orenburg Tsentralny Airport in Orenburg. It operated domestic passenger services and inclusive tour charters, as well as aerial work and special flights. Its main base was Orenburg Tsentralny Airport and it had hubs at Domodedovo and Simferopol International Airport.

Tajik Air airline

Tajik Air, legally State Unitary Aviation Enterprise, was an airline in Tajikistan. It had its head office at Dushanbe International Airport in Dushanbe. The airline had its main hub at Dushanbe International Airport, and it retained a secondary focus city at Khujand's Khudzhand Airport. It ceased operations in January 2019 as the then eighth-oldest airline worldwide.

Air Bishkek was an airline based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with its operational base at Manas International Airport. It was founded as Eastok Avia(E4/EAA) in 2006 and renamed to Kyrgyz Airways. In 2011 the airline was again rebranded into Air Bishkek. Due to alleged poor safety standards in Kyrgyzstan, the airline has been included in the List of air carriers banned in the European Union since 12 October 2006. The airline stopped operating in February 2016 after experiencing financial difficulties. As of June 2016, Air Operator Certificate has been suspended.
