Lake Be Malae,also spelt Bemalae,is a 3,000 hectares (7,400 acres) lagoon in the district of Bobonaro on the north-west coast of East Timor,a country occupying the eastern end of the island of Timor in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Wallacea. [1]
The lake is a broad and shallow expanse of saline water and mudflats which sometimes largely dries up. Its margins are vegetated by mangroves and dry forest. Its outlet is a winding,mangrove-lined channel leading to the sea. [1] [2]
The lake and its surrounds have been identified by BirdLife International as a 28,000 ha Important Bird Area because they support populations of bar-necked cuckoo-doves,pink-headed imperial pigeons,jonquil parrots,streak-breasted honeyeaters,plain gerygones,fawn-breasted whistlers,green figbirds,olive-brown orioles,buff-banded thicketbirds,white-bellied bush chats and flame-breasted sunbirds. Broad Sound is a large bay on the east coast of Australia,in the state of Queensland,675 kilometers northwest of the state capital,Brisbane. It is about 50 kilometers long and 20 kilometers across at its widest point. The Torilla Peninsula forms the eastern side of the bay;Shoalwater Bay is on the other side of the peninsula. The sound has a large tidal range of about 10 metres (33 ft). This is the largest variance on the eastern Australia coastline.
The Barker Inlet is a tidal inlet of the Gulf St Vincent in Adelaide,South Australia,named after Captain Collet Barker who first sighted it in 1831. It contains one of the southernmost mangrove forests in the world,a dolphin sanctuary,seagrass meadows and is an important fish and shellfish breeding ground. The inlet separates Torrens Island and Garden Island from the mainland to the east,and is characterised by a network of tidal creeks,artificially deepened channels,and wide mudflats. The extensive belt of mangroves are bordered by samphire saltmarsh flats and low-lying sand dunes.
Faure Island is a 58 km2 island pastoral lease and nature reserve,east of the Francois Peron National Park on the Peron Peninsula,in Shark Bay,Western Australia. It lies in line with the Monkey Mia resort to the west,and the Wooramel River on the eastern shore of Shark Bay. It is surrounded by the Shark Bay Marine Park and Shark Bay World Heritage Site and,as the Faure Island Sanctuary,is owned and managed by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC).
The black-breasted thrush is a species of bird in the family Turdidae. It is found from north-eastern India to northern Vietnam. Although both male and female birds have the same colour on their lower parts,the upper section of males is mostly black in colour,while females are mostly grey-brown. Thus,the bird's common name refers to the colour of the male bird's breast. They tend to live in forests located at high altitude.
Mandora Marsh,also known as Mandora Salt Marsh,is a complex and diverse wetland system in Western Australia close to Eighty Mile Beach,and included in the Eighty Mile Beach Ramsar Site. It lies at the western edge of the Great Sandy Desert bioregion and within the Mandora Station pastoral lease. The marsh is part of the 3337 km2 Mandora Marsh and Anna Plains Important Bird Area,identified as such by BirdLife International because of its importance for supporting large numbers of waders and waterbirds.
The Ord River floodplain is the floodplain of the lower Ord River in the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley,in the Kimberley region of northern Western Australia. It lies within the Victoria Bonaparte IBRA bioregion and contains river,seasonal creek,tidal mudflat and floodplain wetlands,with extensive stands of mangroves,that support saltwater crocodiles and many waterbirds. It is recognised as an internationally important wetland area,with 1,384 square kilometres (534 sq mi) of it designated on 7 June 1990 as Ramsar Site 477 under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
The Gulf St Vincent Important Bird Area comprises land extending along the coast of Gulf St Vincent,north of Adelaide,South Australia.
Bertha's Beach Important Bird Area comprises 3,300 hectares of coastal wetlands at the entrance to Choiseul Sound,on the east coast of East Falkland,in the Falkland Islands. It lies about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south-east of Mount Pleasant Airport and 40 km south-west of Stanley. It has been identified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area (IBA) because of its significancer for a variety of migratory waders and other waterbirds. Overlapping it is the 4000 ha Bertha's Beach Ramsar site,recognising it as a wetland of international importance.

Port Gawler Conservation Park was a protected area in the Australian state of South Australian located at the east side of Gulf St Vincent on the west side of the locality of Port Gawler. The conservation park covered an area of intertidal mangroves immediately south of Port Gawler beach.
