As a Retail Service Provider (RSP), Launtel provides a retail service for accessing the NBN. Launtel provides a native ipv6 connection [1] , and shared ipv4 address resolution via CGNAT. This shared ipv4 CGNAT connection can be upgraded to a non-shared ipv4 address for an additional fee.
Launtel was founded in 2007, by Damian Ivereigh, in Launceston. [2]
In 2017, Launtel became the first RSP to provide retail services for gigabit internet in Australia [3] Also in 2017, Launtel became the first RSP to provide retail services for gigabit internet in Tasmania's capital city, Hobart. [4]
In 2022 and 2023, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission ranked Launtel as the fastest retail service provider (RSP) of internet in Australia. [5] [6]
In 2023, Launtel lobbied the National Broadband Network (NBN) to provide their highest speed services at a lower cost to RSPs. [7]
The CEO of Launtel, Damien Ivereigh, was elected President of the Launceston Chamber of Commerce in 2024. [8]
