North Texas is a term used primarily by residents of Dallas,Fort Worth,and surrounding areas to describe much of the north-central portion of the U.S. state of Texas. Residents of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex generally consider North Texas to include the area south of Oklahoma,east of Abilene,west of Paris,and north of Waco. A more precise term for this region would be the northern part of the central portion of Texas. It does not include the Panhandle of Texas,which expands further north than the region previously described,nor does it include most of the region near the northern border of Texas.

The Wright Amendment of 1979 was a United States federal law that governed traffic at Dallas Love Field,an airport in Dallas,Texas,to protect Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) from competition. The amendment—enacted in reaction to the refusal of Southwest Airlines to vacate Love Field and move to DFW—prohibited carriers from operating full-size airliners between Love Field and destinations beyond Texas and its four neighboring states. Further amendments in 1997 and 2005 added new states and relaxed aircraft rules for longer range service. The law was partially repealed in 2006 and then fully repealed in 2014.

Love Field covers an area of 1,300 acres (530 ha) at an elevation of 487 feet (148 m) above mean sea level and has two runways.
Garland/DFW Heloplex is a city-owned public heliport in Garland,in Dallas County,Texas,United States,located approximately 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) southwest of the central business district. The facility is used for general aviation and air taxi purposes and is operated by SKY Helicopters. The heliport has no IATA or ICAO designation. The facility is alternately known as the Garland/DFW Heliport,Garland Heliport,or Garland/DFW Heliplex.
