Handball is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins.
Lebanon, officially known as the Lebanese Republic, is a country in Western Asia. It is bordered by Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south, while Cyprus lies west across the Mediterranean Sea. As of December 2018, the only teams that have ever won the championship are Norway, Denmark, Hungary, Montenegro and France (once).

The 2010 Asian Men's Handball Championship was held in Beirut, Lebanon, from 6 to 19 February 2010. It acted as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2011 World Men's Handball Championship in Sweden.

Many of the newly arrived Arabs came to Romania in the 1990s in order to develop businesses. In addition, Romania has people from Arab countries who have the status of refugees or illegal immigrants, primarily from North Africa, trying to immigrate to Western Europe. In particular, the European migrant crisis lead to Syrian people coming to Romania, although many Syrians were already living in Romania at the time of the crisis.

The IHF World Women's Handball Championship has been organized by the International Handball Federation since 1957. European team have won every time except 1995 where South Korea won as the first team outside Europe and 2013 where Brazil won as the first American team. The biggest winner is Russia with four titles.

The 2019 Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship was the 15th edition of the championship held from 20 to 29 July 2019 at Beirut, Lebanon under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It was the first time in history that championship was organised in Lebanon by the Lebanese Handball Federation. It also acted as the qualification tournament for the 2020 Women's Junior World Handball Championship.
The Lebanese Handball Federation (LHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball in Lebanese Republic. Founded in 1968, LHF is a member of Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF).
