Light Shop is an upcoming South Korean mystery series written by Kang Full and directed by Kim Hee-won. Ju Ji-hoon, Park Bo-young, Bae Seong-woo, Uhm Tae-goo, Kim Seol-hyun, Lee Jung-eun, Kim Min-ha, Park Hyuk-kwon, Kim Dae-myung, Shin Eun-soo, Kim Sun-hwa, and Kim Ki-hae round out the ensemble cast. Based on the webtoon of the same name by Kang, depicts the story of the living and the dead by connecting the world and the underworld through a store that sells lights. It is scheduled for release in the second half of 2024.

Synopsis

Follows the story of a group of strangers who are all having a hard time processing a horrible experience from their past. Each of them is going about their normal lives until they are all strangely pulled to a light shop located at the end of a dubious alleyway. A cautious shopkeeper guarded the light shop, which may contain the key to the strangers' pasts, present, and futures. [1]

Development

Actor Kim Hee-won selected as the director for Kang Full's Light Shop, based on webtoon of the same name which was serialized on Kakao Webtoon in 2011. This marked Kim's debut as a director. [3] Mr. Romance and Moving Pictures Co. managed the production of the series. [4]

Casting

In 2023, Ju Ji-hoon, Kim Seol-hyun, Bae Seong-woo, and Park Bo-young were cast for the series. [5] [6] [7] [8]

Ju, Kim, Bae, and Park together with Uhm Tae-goo, Lee Jung-eun, Kim Min-ha, Park Hyuk-kwon, Kim Dae-myung, Shin Eun-soo, Kim Sun-hwa, and Kim Ki-hae were officially confirmed to play various roles on January 19, 2024. [9]

Release

Light Shop will be released exclusively on Disney+ in the second half of 2024. [1]

Gentleman is a 2022 South Korean crime drama film written and directed by Kim Kyung-won. Starring Ju Ji-hoon, Park Sung-woong and Choi Sung-eun, the film depicts story of the president of a secret agency, who pretends to be a prosecutor to find a missing client and chases bad guys regardless of whether it is illegal or legal. It was released on December 28, 2022.
