Lillian Mbabazi is a Rwandan-Ugandan recording artist and entertainer. She was born in Uganda to Rwandan Parents. According to a Ugandan publicist at Bryan Morel Publications, Lilian's music style is neo-soul associated with R&B Band tendencies. [1] She was a member of Blu*3. [1] [2] In 2014, she was one of the featured artists in the second season of "Coke Studio Africa". [3]

Career

Music

Mbabazi began performing professionally in 2003, after the Coca-Cola Pop Star competitions that led to the formation of Blu*3. She found musical success with the group, winning the Best Artist/Group from Uganda & Best Music Video from Uganda in the 2005 Kisima Music Awards, Video of the Year ("Hitaji") in the 2005 Pearl of Africa Music Awards [4]

She also won Video of the Year ("Burrn") in the 2007 Pearl of Africa Music Awards and was nominated for best East African Group in the 2005 at the Kora Awards. [5] She won the Best East African Album (Hitaji) award in the 2005 Tanzania Music Awards and the Best East African Video ("Frisky") in the 2006 at the Channel O Music Video Awards. [6]

In 2010, she was nominated among the Best East African Song (Where you are with Radio & Weasel) in the 2010 Tanzania music awards and in 2009, she was nominated among the Best Group & Best Performer in 2009 at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards. [7]

In 2010, she embarked on a solo career and has had successful songs like "Vitamin" with Weasel of the duo Goodlyfe Crew, "Kawa" and "Danger". She has collaborated with Goodlyfe Crew, Navio, AY, P-Unit and Kitoko.[ citation needed ]

In 2016, Mbabazi won her first ever accolade at the prestigious HiPipo Music Awards for her Memories duet with A Pass. [8]

Radio

Mbabazi started working at 91.3 Capital FM, one of the leading FM radio stations in Uganda, after the departure of their Big Breakfast co-host Karitas Karisimbi back in the 2000s. [9] She, however, left the station to concentrate on her music career right before the disintegration of Blu*3 and was replaced at the station with Jackie Lumbasi. She later joined City Radio [10]

Personal life

Mbabazi was in a relationship with the late musician Mowzey Radio (25 January 1985 – 1 February 2018), with whom she had two children (Asante Manzi and Izuba). [11] The couple had supposedly been together since their time at Makerere University, before their break up a few months into 2015. [12] After the couple got their first child, they faced a number of issues that eventually lead to the break up. [12]

Blu 3 was a Ugandan Girl group formed in April 2004 after winning the TV show Coca Cola Popstars. The name is contrived to mean 3 Beautiful Ladies from Uganda. Original members were Jackie Chandiru, Lilian Mbabazi and Cinderella Sanyu. After winning the contest, they went on to record the albums Hitaji (2004) and Burrn (2007). The Hitaji album spawned the hit singles "Hitaji", "Frisky" and the afro beat "Tomalaako". The girls launched Hitaji at lugogo cricket stadium in December 2004 with thousands of fans. The "Hitaji" video went on to win the Pearl of Africa Music Award for Video of the Year.

Kevin Waire, best known by his stage name Wyre, is a Kenyan R&B and reggae musician. He is known for being a member of the groups Necessary Noize and East African Bashment Crew, as well as his solo career.

Radio & Weasel was a Ugandan music Duo that performed under their record label Goodlyfe Crew a Ugandan music group with lead performers being singers Moses Radio and [Weasel Manizo]. Moses Radio provided smooth RnB vocals while Weasel's contribution is a fusion of reggae, ragga and dancehall vibes. Because of their prominence, Moses Radio and Weasel formed their own duo known as Radio and Weasel. The Lead singer Moses and Vocalist Radio died on 1 February 2018 from brain injuries after an assault by a bouncer at a club in Entebbe. Radio's attacker threw him down about 3 metres (9.8 ft) onto a concrete pavement which resulted in massive intracranial hemorrhage. Radio and Weasel also formed The Goodlyfe Crew. The crew saw many changes in its set-up but at various times included Chagga, Lenin Briton, and Lawrence. Many of its members had their own solo projects and collaborations.

Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo, also known as Mowzey Radio, sometimes referred to as Moses Radio, was a Ugandan musician. He was one of the main performers of the Ugandan music group Goodlyfe Crew together with Jose Chameleone's brother Weasel Manizo.

Aziz Mukisa, professionally known by his stage name Aziz Azion, is a Ugandan R&B singer-songwriter, guitarist and musician. He was born Aziz Mukisa on 27 July 1986 in Fort Portal, Uganda and raised in Kampala where he attended his early school program before making his move into the music industry at an early age. Popularly known as "the guitar emperor", Aziz has graced the Ugandan and East African music charts with the songs 'Yegwe', 'Nkumila Omukwano', 'Nakupenda', 'Oxygen', 'Beera Nange', 'Nzikiriza', 'Pain Killer', and 'Yo Love', among others. Popular music promoter and veteran disc spinner DJ Erycom while appearing on a TV Show, he said that "Leero Monday" was the very first song composed and sung by Aziz Azion in the year 2007.

Undercover Brothers Ug also simply known as Undercover Brothers are a Ugandan music duo composed of guitarist and vocalist Jay K Mulungi and vocalist Timothy Kirya, whose music career sparked off when they won the auditions and represented Uganda in the sixth season of East Africa's biggest singing competition Tusker Project Fame. The duo released their first album titled At Dawn in December 2014. In December 2016, their song Nsikatila was nominated in the Best R&B Song category at HiPipo Music Awards (#HMA) 2017.

Sheebah Karungi, professionally known as Queen Karma and Sheebah, is a Ugandan musician, dancer, actress and feminist activist. She debuted her acting career in Queen of Katwe as Shakira. After quitting Obsessions, a dance group she joined in 2006, she started making music and later rose to recognition upon the release of her hit single "Ice Cream". Zisabusolo Willy, professionally known as Liam Voice, is a Ugandan singer and songwriter born on 25 April 1998. Liam was born and raised from Kampala District. He is known for soul touching love songs and he is signed under Cloud Africa management.

Born To Conquer (B2C) Entertainment, also known as Kampala Boys, is a Ugandan music group of three musicians who sing together. B2C is made of [Delivad Julio], [Mr. Lee B2C] and [Bobby Lash B2C]. Delivad Julio and Mr. Lee sing with soothing soft RnB vocals while Bobby Lash B2C sings the Ragga and dancehall vibes. The three formed B2C entertainment from school as they were students at Crested secondary school in Makindye Division in Kampala. Because of their consistency, the trio decided to start professional music in 2016 with their breakthrough song known as Tokigeza produced by Diggy Baur.

Ssali Peterson professionally known as Bobby Lash B2C is a Ugandan musician born on 20 April 1992 from Namirembe Hospital in Kampala District in Uganda. Bobby Lash was born to the family of Mr. Ssali Peter and Mrs. Nabukeera Teopista. He is a professional musician signed under the B2C Entertainment record label since 2016.
