Linda Xolelwa Hlobisile Hlongwa-Madlala is a South African politician who has served in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature since 2005. [1] She was a member of the National Democratic Convention [2] [3] until 15 September 2007, when she defected to the African National Congress (ANC) during the legislature's floor-crossing period. [4] Since then she has represented the ANC in the legislature; most recently, she was re-elected to her seat in the 2014 general election, ranked 36th on the ANC's provincial party list, [5] and in the 2019 general election, ranked 37th. [6] She is married to Cyril Madlala, a journalist and formerly a spin doctor for the provincial government. [7]

KwaZulu-Natal is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa, the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa, the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It is conterminous with the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
