The top-performing albums and EPs in the United States are ranked on the Billboard 200 chart, which is published by Billboard magazine. The data is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan based on each album's weekly physical and digital sales, as well as on-demand streaming and digital sales of their individual tracks.
Multiple artists received their first number-one album in 2019, including: 21 Savage, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Hozier, Juice Wrld (which would be his last released during his lifetime following his death later in the year), Nav, Billie Eilish, Khalid, Tyler, the Creator, The Raconteurs, Young Thug, Luke Combs, DaBaby, SuperM, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Trippie Redd, and Roddy Ricch.
The year also featured many artists return to the number-one spot after years of absence: the band Tool released their first number-one album in 13 years, the Jonas Brothers released their first in 10 (becoming the third consecutive number-one for both artists), the Backstreet Boys released their first album in 6 years, and their first number-one since 2000, and Celine Dion had her first number-one since 2002. Billie Eilish's debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was the best performing album of 2019. Taylor Swift's seventh studio album, Lover , was the best-selling album of 2019, and had the year's biggest sales week with 867,000 units. [1]

The Billboard 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by Billboard magazine to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. Sometimes, a recording act is remembered for its "number ones" that outperformed all other albums during at least one week. The chart grew from a weekly top 10 list in 1956 to become a top 200 list in May 1967, acquiring its existing name in March 1992. Its previous names include the Billboard Top LPs (1961–1972), Billboard Top LPs & Tape (1972–1984), Billboard Top 200 Albums (1984–1985), Billboard Top Pop Albums (1985–1991), and Billboard 200 Top Albums (1991–1992).
Republic Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group (UMG). Based in New York City, it was founded by Avery Lipman and Monte Lipman as an independent label in 1995, and was acquired by UMG in 2000. Republic was initially an imprint of the Universal Motown Republic Group, and was renamed Universal Republic Records after a reorganization in 2006 before going back to its original name in 2012.

It was released on September 29, 2017, by Highbridge and Atlantic Records, serving as the second commercial release with Atlantic. The album features guest appearances from Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Kodak Black, 21 Savage, PnB Rock, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Robin Thicke and Don Q. Meanwhile, production comes from Metro Boomin, DJ Mustard, Murda Beatz, and Cardo, among others.
Hoodie SZN is the second studio album by American rapper A Boogie wit da Hoodie. It was released on December 21, 2018. Features included Juice WRLD, 6ix9ine, Nav, Offset, Tyga, Young Thug, and Queen Naija, among others. The track "Odee" had originally been made available online on March 23, 2018. The track "Pull Up" was previously included on the EP International Artist. The album was preceded by single "Look Back at It".
I Am > I Was is the second solo studio album by British-American rapper 21 Savage, released on December 21, 2018. I Am > I Was features vocals by J. Cole, City Girls, Offset, Post Malone, Gunna, Lil Baby, Schoolboy Q, Project Pat, Childish Gambino, and Savage's cousin Young Nudy. The deluxe edition was released three days later, featuring one more song, which features an additional guest appearance from Travis Scott.
The soundtrack for the 2018 American animated superhero film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, based on the Miles Morales incarnation of the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and produced by Sony Pictures Animation, consists of a soundtrack featuring original songs written for and inspired by the film and an original score composed by Daniel Pemberton. The soundtrack was released under the title Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse under the Republic Records label on December 14, 2018, while Pemberton's score was released as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse under the Sony Classical label three days later.
When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish. It was released on March 29, 2019, by Darkroom and Interscope Records in the US and Polydor Records in the UK. Eilish, aged 17 at the time of release, largely wrote the album with her brother Finneas O'Connell, who produced it at his small bedroom studio in Highland Park, Los Angeles.

It was released on February 14, 2020, by Highbridge and Atlantic Records. and contains features from Young Thug, Roddy Ricch, Gunna, London on da Track, DaBaby, Trap Manny, Summer Walker, Khalid, and Lil Uzi Vert. The deluxe edition of the album was released on June 19, 2020. It features an additional guest appearance from his firstborn daughter, Melody Valentine Dubose.

Time Served is the third studio album by American rapper Moneybagg Yo. It was released on January 10, 2020, through Roc Nation, Collective Music Group, Bread Gang Entertainment, N-Less Entertainment, and Interscope Records. The album features collaborations with Lil Baby, Blac Youngsta, Future, DaBaby, Summer Walker, Fredo Bang, and Megan Thee Stallion. Top Album Sales is a music chart published by Billboard magazine starting in May 1991, and has existed in its current form since December 2014. It is a weekly chart documenting the best-selling albums on a weekly basis in the United States. Up until December 2014, this had been documented by the Billboard 200 chart, but that chart was altered to factor in music streaming by accounting for album-equivalent units in its tallies to document the effect of the rise of music streaming outlet such as Apple Music and Spotify. Starting in the Top Album Sales chart's debut week of May 25, 1991, Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from Soundscan, now known as Luminate. During the week of December 6, 2014, the chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. The Top Album Sales chart was created to preserve the older methodology of counting pure album sales.

The album features guest appearances from Roddy Ricch, Tory Lanez, Kodak Black, G Herbo, Lil Durk, Don Q, and H.E.R. The deluxe edition was released three days later and included an additional guest appearance from the late PnB Rock for the only newly-added track, "Needed That". Production was handled by a variety of record producers, such as A Boogie himself, S.Dot, P2J, Kofo, Wheezy, Don Cannon, Lee Major, Sean Momberger, Rogét Chahayed, Band on the Beat, Chuck Taylor, OG Parker, Smash David, and Dez Wright, among others.
