These are the Billboard magazine's number-one dance songs of 2008 on the Dance Club Songs, the Dance Singles Sales, and the Dance/Mix Show Airplay. The Hot Dance Club Songs was first published in 1976, ranking the most popular songs on dance club based on reports from a national sample of club DJs. The Dance/Mix Show Airplay was first published in 2003, ranking the songs based on dance radio airplay and mix-show plays on top 40 radio and select rhythmic radio as measured by Mediabase.
The first club play number-one song of the year was Dave Gahan's "Kingdom", [1] and it ranked at number 10 on the 2008 Dance Club Play year-end chart. [2] Artists to achieve one number one song on the chart throughout the course of 2008 were Celine Dion with "Taking Chances" which ranked at number 30 on the 2008 year-end list, [3] [4] Mary J. Blige with "Just Fine" which ranked at number 45 on the 2008 year-end list, [5] [6] Mariah Carey with "Touch My Body", [7] [8] and Rihanna with "Disturbia". [9] Bob Sinclar and Steve Edwards topped the chart with "Together", which claimed the number one position on the 2008 year-end chart as the most performed song in dance clubs. [2]
Multiple artists achieved two number-one dance singles throughout the course of 2008. Kimberley Locke topped the chart with "Band of Gold" and "Fall". [10] [11] The former ranked at number 11 on the 2008 year-end chart, [12] while the latter ranked at number 39. [8] Britney Spears achieved two number ones on the chart with "Piece of Me" and "Break the Ice". [13] [14] "Piece of Me" ranked at number 37 on the 2008 year-end chart, while "Break the Ice" ranked at number 42. [6] [8] Madonna and Donna Summer both topped the chart with two songs, and were the only artists in 2008 to have one song each peak at number one for two consecutive weeks. Madonna claimed the number one position twice with the songs "4 Minutes", featuring Justin Timberlake, which spent two consecutive weeks atop the chart, [15] [16] and with "Give It 2 Me". [17] Summer's "Stamp Your Feet" also topped the chart for two consecutive weeks, [18] [19] and with "I'm a Fire". [20] Other artists earning two number ones during 2008 are Yoko Ono, [21] [22] Cyndi Lauper, [23] [24] Erin Hamilton, [25] [26] Moby, [27] [28] and Solange. [29] [30] Natasha Bedingfield earned the most number-ones during 2008, with three: "Love like This", [31] "Pocketful of Sunshine" [32] and "Angel". [33]

"Run to You" is a song performed by American singer and actress Whitney Houston, released on June 21, 1993, by Arista Records as the fourth single from The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album (1992). It was written by Jud Friedman and Allan Rich, and produced by David Foster. Originally intended to be a break-up song, it was approved by the production and stars. However, a month later, the director of The Bodyguard called, saying he liked the song so much, but he'd rather have it to be a love song so the entire song was rewritten, except for the title.
"Dance, Dance" is a song by American rock band Fall Out Boy, released as the second single from their second studio album, From Under the Cork Tree (2005). It peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the band's second consecutive top-ten hit song. Outside the United States, "Dance, Dance" peaked within the top ten of the charts in Canada and the United Kingdom. It won many awards, including Viewer's Choice at the MTV Video Music Awards and two Teen Choice Awards, among various nominations. "Dance, Dance" was certified 3× platinum by the RIAA in October 2014.

It was later released internationally on March 21, 2008. "With You" is composed as a midtempo R&B ballad that features an acoustic guitar as the base of the arrangement.
"Love in This Club" is a song by American singer Usher featuring American rapper Young Jeezy. It was released on February 22, 2008, as the lead single from Usher's fifth studio album, Here I Stand. The song was written by Usher, Polow da Don, Jeezy, Darnell Dalton, Ryon Lovett, Lamar Taylor and Keith Thomas, and produced by da Don, with a Las Vegas-inspired synth-driven beat. Its lyrics refer to seducing someone in a nightclub. The song was originally leaked by da Don prior to its release.
"The Time of My Life" is the debut single by American singer-songwriter David Cook, released through RCA Records and 19 Entertainment on May 22, 2008 after Cook won the seventh season of American Idol. It was written by Regie Hamm and produced by Steve Lipson. The song is included as a bonus track on his self-titled debut major-label album.
"Evacuate the Dancefloor" is a song by German group Cascada from their third studio album of the same name. The song features a rap by Afro-German rapper Carlprit and was released as the album's lead single on 29 June 2009.
The discography of American electronica project Owl City consists of seven studio albums, eight extended plays, twenty-six singles, and twenty-five music videos. Owl City issued his debut release, the extended play Of June, in September 2007; it peaked at number 15 on the United States Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. His debut studio album Maybe I'm Dreaming followed in December 2008, peaking at number 13 on the Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Following the success of Of June and Maybe I'm Dreaming, Young signed to Universal Republic Records in late 2008. His second studio album and major-label debut, Ocean Eyes, was released in July 2009. "Give Me Everything" is a song by American rapper Pitbull featuring Dutch DJ Afrojack and American singers Ne-Yo and Nayer. Written by the former three and produced by Afrojack, it was released on March 18, 2011, through Polo Grounds Music, Mr. 305 Entertainment, and J Records as the second single from Pitbull's sixth studio album, Planet Pit (2011). Rolling Stone described the song as a "club-pop cut with a plaintive Ne-Yo chorus".
Journey to Freedom is the fourth studio album by American recording artist Michelle Williams, released on September 9, 2014, by E1 Music and Light Records. It marked her first release under the label after severing professional ties with longtime record company Columbia Records and manager Mathew Knowles in 2009. Following a hiatus from her recording career, Williams' album, a collaboration with main producer Harmony Samuels, was a fusion of both urban contemporary gospel and R&B sounds.
"Die a Happy Man" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music singer Thomas Rhett. It was released on September 28, 2015, by Valory Music Group as the second single from his second studio album, Tangled Up. Rhett wrote the song with Sean Douglas and Joe Spargur. American singer Tori Kelly is featured on a pop remix included on the deluxe edition. The song peaked at number 21 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming his highest-charting single on that chart.
