On 1 November 1956, Hyderabad State ceased to exist; its Gulbarga and Aurangabad divisions were merged into Mysore State and Bombay State respectively. Its remaining Telugu-speaking portion, Telangana, was added to Andhra State to form the new state of combined Andhra Pradesh. After 58 years, the state was bifurcated into Andhra Pradesh & Telangana states on 2 June 2014 by Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy, is an Indian politician serving as the 17th and current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Reddy is the founder and leader of YSR Congress Party, and was Leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 16 May 2014 until 23 May 2019. He is the son of the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The Telangana movement refers to a movement for the creation of a new state, Telangana, from the pre-existing state of Andhra Pradesh in India. The new state corresponds to the Telugu-speaking portions of the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad. After several years of protest and agitation, the central government, under the United Progressive Alliance, decided to bifurcate the existing Andhra Pradesh state and on 7 February 2014, the Union Cabinet unilaterally cleared the bill for the creation of Telangana. Lasting for almost a decade, this has been one of the most longlasting movements in South India. On 18 February 2014, the Lok Sabha passed the bill with a voice vote. Subsequently, the bill was passed by Rajya Sabha two days later, on 20 February. As per the bill, Hyderabad would be the capital of Telangana, while the city would also remain the capital of residual state of Andhra Pradesh for no more than ten years. On 2 June 2014, Telangana was created.

Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy is an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He was the last Chief Minister of the United Andhra Pradesh before the formation of the Telangana state on June 2, 2014. Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy was sworn in as the 16th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 25 November 2010. The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, popularly known as the Telangana Act is an Act of Indian Parliament that bifurcated the state of Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh state, due to the Telangana movement. Jai Samaikyandhra Party or JSP was an Indian political party launched by former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy. He launched the party in protest against Government of India's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh through Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill. Its poll plank is self-respect of Telugu people. The name of the party means Hail United Andhra Pradesh. The party was formal launched at a public meeting in Rajahmundry on 12 March 2014, and promised rollback of Telangana state in the event of JSP winning 25 seats. Its electoral symbol is a pair of slippers. In elections the party failed to win a single seat and lost deposits in many seats. Finally the party dissolved on 13 July 2018 and Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy re-joined INC.
