War

The Second World War saw the suspension of the major tournaments, with regional tournaments going ahead. Dundee United played in the North Eastern League, which consisted of autumn and season league and cup tournaments. In 1945–56, United played in the Southern League and corresponding league cup tournament.

The North Eastern League was a regional Scottish football competition held during the Second World War, due to the suspension of the Scottish Football League. Held between 1941 and 1945, the competition was played in two stages each season, with bonus points awarded in the second stage: initially, for teams with higher aggregate scores over the two series; latterly, for away draws/wins. Some reserve teams from the bigger clubs competing in the other region, the Southern League, entered the North Eastern League, with the Rangers 'A' team winning both stages in the first season.

Benjamin Kevin Siegrist is a Swiss professional footballer, who plays in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic as a goalkeeper. He was a member of the Switzerland squad at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and went on to represent the Swiss Under-21s. In 2009, Siegrist was part of his nation's FIFA U-17 World Cup winning side, during which he also received the competition's inaugural Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper. During seven years in the Aston Villa Academy Siegrist undertook a series of short-term loans to English Football League and Conference sides. After a spell in the Swiss Super League with Vaduz, Siegrist signed for Scottish club Dundee United in 2018.

The 2020–21 season was Dundee's second season in the second tier of Scottish football since their relegation at the end of the 2018–19 season.

The 1946–47 season was the forty-fifth season in which Dundee competed at a Scottish national level, and the second season playing in the second tier, as well as the first season back in the Scottish Football League following the end of World War II. Dundee would sport an impressively high-scoring team who would win the league and record several records, including logging 10–0 victories in consecutive games, with striker Albert Juliussen breaking records for most goals scored by a Dundee player in a single match (7) and most scored in two consecutive matches (13). Dundee would also compete in the Scottish Cup in its first edition since its suspension after the outbreak of war, and despite an impressive 1st round victory over Celtic, they would be knocked out in the Quarter-finals by Aberdeen.

The 2021–22 Scottish League Cup was the 76th season of Scotland's second-most prestigious football knockout competition.

During the 2020–21 Scottish football season, Forfar Athletic F.C. competed in Scottish League One, the third tier of the Scottish football league system. It was the club's fourth season in the division after achieving promotion from Scottish League Two in the 2016–17 season. With a record of four wins, five draws, and thirteen losses, Forfar finished tenth and last in League One and were relegated to League Two for the 2021–22 season. The club entered the season with Stuart Malcolm as manager, but a poor run of results between December 2020 and April 2021 led to his resignation after seventeen months in charge. He was replaced by defender Gary Irvine, who was appointed on 9 April in a player-manager role for the rest of the season.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022–23 Scottish League Cup</span> Football tournament season

The 2022–23 Scottish League Cup, also known as the Premier Sports Cup / Viaplay Cup (final) for sponsorship reasons, was the 77th season of Scotland's second-most prestigious football knockout competition. Celtic were the defending champions. They retained the title to win the competition for a 21st time.
