"Miner" ("Coal Miners" (1936), "Stakhanovets" (1936–46 years), "Shakhtar" (since 1946)) is a Ukrainian football club from the city of Donetsk playing in the Premier League of Ukraine. [1] [2] The first and only among Ukrainian clubs to win the UEFA Cup. Winner of the USSR Super Cup, four-time winner of the USSR Cup, thirteen-time champion of Ukraine, thirteen-time winner of the Ukrainian Cup, nine-time winner of the Ukrainian Super Cup. [3]
The first official match in the Soviet Top League "Coal miners" played in Kazan against the local team "Dynamo" and lost with a score of 1:4. The first coach of the club was Nikolay Grigoryevich Naumov. [4] [5] The club has been led by 34 head coaches throughout its history, [6] [7] he last of which, on June 14, 2022, was the Croatian coach – Igor Jovićević. [8]
Most matches (574 or according to other information 573) the club spent under the coach - Mircea Lucescu, who headed Shakhtar Donetsk from 2004 to 2016. Lucescu also ranks first in the number of victories - 389. [9] [10]

Football Club Shakhtar Donetsk also known as FC Shakhtar Donetsk, is a Ukrainian professional football club that was based in the city of Donetsk until 2014 when, due to the War in Donbas, the club was forced to move to Lviv, and played matches in Lviv (2014–2016) and in Kharkiv (2017–2020) whilst having its office headquarters and training facilities in Kyiv. In May 2020, Shakhtar started to play home matches at NSC Olimpiyskyi in Kyiv. For the 2023–24 season, Shakhtar will now play home matches once again at Arena Lviv.
The Channel One Cup was an annual pre-season commercial football tournament, organized by Russian TV Channel One and Roman Abramovich's foundation, the National Football Academy. The participants were champions and runners-up of the Russian Premier League, Ukrainian Premier League and Israeli Premier League. The total prize fund was about two million dollars, with the winner getting one million. The cup rules specified that at least half of the prize money must be channeled into developing young players.
The 1991 Soviet Top League season was 22nd in the Top League and the 54th since the establishment of nationwide club competition, also the last one. Dynamo Kyiv were the defending 13-times champions and came fifth this season. A total of sixteen teams participated in the league, twelve of them have contested in the 1990 season while the remaining four were promoted from the Soviet First League due to withdrawals. The representatives of the Baltic states as well as Georgia chose not to take part in the competition.

The 2018 Ukrainian Cup Final was a football match played on May 9, 2018, in Dnipro between Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv. The culmination of the 2017–18 Ukrainian Cup season, this was the second time the cup final had been held in Dnipro. The match was the 27th Ukrainian Cup Final since the fall of the Soviet Union. Shakhtar Donetsk emerged victorious in the match, defeating Dynamo Kyiv by a score of 2-0.
