The father–son rule is a rule that allows clubs preferential recruiting access to the sons of players who have made a major past contribution to the club in Australian rules football, most notably in the Australian Football League.

George William Wilson Jr. was an American professional football player. He played college football at Xavier University and for the American Football League's (AFL) 1966 expansion team, the Miami Dolphins. In 1965, Wilson was selected in the 20th round of the National Football League (NFL) draft by the Detroit Lions, with the overall 277th pick. However, he eventually signed with the AFL's Buffalo Bills, who selected him as the 96th pick in the 12th round of the Red Shirt draft. In 1966, Wilson was traded to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 13th round 1967 draft pick. At the time, the Dolphins' head coach was his father, George Wilson Sr.

The 1966 American Football League draft was held on Saturday, November 27, 1965. The AFL added the Miami Dolphins as an expansion team in 1966 to bring its total to nine franchises for its seventh season. The Dolphins were awarded the first overall pick in the draft, who used it to select running back Jim Grabowski. The only Hall of Famer to come out of this draft was kicker Jan Stenerud, who was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the Red Shirt portion of the draft.

The 1964 Long Beach State 49ers football team represented California State College, Long Beach—now known as California State University, Long Beach—as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the 1964 NCAA College Division football season. Led by seventh-year head coach Don Reed, the 49ers compiled an overall record of 8–2 with a mark of 3–2 in conference play, placing third in the CCAA. Long Beach State's two losses each came against teams then ranked No. 2 in the AP small college poll, San Diego State on October 10 and Cal State Los Angeles on November 14. The team played home games at Veterans Memorial Stadium adjacent to the campus of Long Beach City College in Long Beach, California.

Led by third-year head coach Darryl Rogers, Fresno State compiled an overall record of 7–4 with a mark of 4–0 in conference play, winning the CCAA title. As champion, the Bulldogs qualified for the 1968 Camellia Bowl, which was played in Sacramento, California against the champion of the Far Western Conference, the Humboldt State Lumberjacks. Humboldt State prevailed, 29–14.

Johanes "Jon" S. Anabo is a former professional gridiron football quarterback who played for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL). From 1964 to 1965, he played in 11 regular season games, passing for 803 yards, five touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Prior to playing for the Eskimos, Anabo played for the Fresno State Bulldogs and spent time on the practice squad of the Cleveland Browns from the National Football League (NFL).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">DaRon Bland</span> American football player (born 1999)

DaRon Bland is an American professional football cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Sacramento State Hornets before transferring to the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Cowboys selected Bland in the 5th round of the 2022 NFL draft. In 2023, he led the NFL with 9 interceptions and set the NFL single-season record for most interceptions returned for a touchdown with five; this also tied Ken Houston's record for the most defensive touchdowns in a single season.
