The most popular team sports in Greece are football, basketball, volleyball, water polo and handball. The first four sports have a big tradition in Greece as well as have taken place official championships since the decade of twenties or thirties. The official handball championship commenced with delay, in 1980, but won popularity gradually.
In all of these sports, at least a Greek team has played in a final of European competition. The Greek teams have won at least a cup in European competition in four of these sports (basketball, volleyball, waterpolo, handball).
The Greek Football Federation founded in 1926 and the first official men's Greek football championship took place in 1927-28 season. These season started also the men's official basketball championship and the official water polo championship. The first official men's Greek volleyball championship started in 1936. The first official handball championship in 1979-80 season, when the Greek Handball Federation founded.
The oldest women's championship is the basketball championship which started in 1967-68 season. The women's volleyball championship started in 1969-70 season, the women's water polo championship started in 1987-88 season, the handball women's started in 1981-82 season and the football in 1989-90 season.
The most titles in the men's sport have won Olympiacos Piraeus and the next most successful club is Panathinaikos. Only two teams have won a title in the four different sports. These are Olympiacos and Aris Thessaloniki.

Panathinaikos Athlitikos Omilos, also known simply as Panathinaikós, is a major Greek multi-sport club based in the City of Athens. Panathinaikos is one of the most successful multi-sport clubs and one of the oldest clubs in Greece. The name "Panathinaikos" was inspired by the ancient work of Isocrates Panathenaicus, where the orator praise the Athenians for their democratic education and their military superiority, which use it for benefit of all Greeks.

Ethnikos Piraeus F.C. is a Greek football club based in Piraeus and its parent sports club is Ethnikos OFPF. The club was officially formed on 21 November 1923 as KeravnosPiraeus, but existed unofficially since 1922. One year later the club was renamed to Young Boys Titan, after some players' secession that formed Peiraikos Podosfairikos Omilos. The full name of the club is Ethnikos Omilos Filathlon Pireos/Phalirou or Ethnikos OFPF, which means National Club of Fans of Piraeus and Phalerum. Ethnikos has sections in football, basketball, volleyball, waterpolo, swimming. In most of these sports, Ethnikos has won titles and honours. The most successful department is by far the water polo, which has won many domestic and European titles. The Peace and Friendship Stadium, commonly known by its acronym SEF, is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in Piraeus, on the coastal zone of Attica, Greece. The arena is mostly known for being the home to EuroLeague team Olympiacos, and is the central venue of the Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex. It opened in 1985 and its design was inspired by Palasport di San Siro.
Heraklion Indoor Sports Arena, or simply, Heraklion Arena, is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in the city of Heraklion, on the island of Crete, in Greece. It is located in a district called Dyo Aorakia. Andro Bušlje is a Croatian water polo player who competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he was part of the Croatian team that won the gold medal. He is right-handed and plays the center defender position. From 2016 to 2019 he played for Greek powerhouse Olympiacos, with whom he won the 2017–18 LEN Champions League. He started playing water polo at the age of 12, and he made his national team debut in 2005. Bušlje is one of the top defenders in the world.
Josip Pavić is a Croatian water polo player who competed in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal in 2012 and the silver in 2016. He was widely regarded as the best goalkeeper in the 2012 Olympic tournament. He was named the best world water polo player in 2012, by FINA.
Theodoros "Thodoris" Kalakonas is a Greek water polo player who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics, and in the 2004 Summer Olympics with the Greece men's national water polo team. He was part of the national squad that won the silver medal at the 1997 World Cup in Athens and the Bronze Medal in the 2004 World League in Long Beach.

Georgios Psykhos is a Greek former water polo player who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics, the 2000 Summer Olympics with the Greece men's national water polo team. He was part of the Greece national team that won the silver medal at the 1997 World Cup in Athens.

He is currently the captain of Greece men's national water polo team, with whom he won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships, a bronze medal at the 2016 World League, 2020 World League and competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. He played for the Greek powerhouse Olympiacos since 2009, and in 2018 he won the 2017–18 LEN Champions League with the Greek giants, scoring 4 goals in the final game against Pro Recco in Genoa. Is a very big scorer and leader is considered one of the top players in the world and it is typical how in 2016 and 2018 he was voted as the second top player in the world. Currently playing for the Greek club Olympiacos.
Konstantinos Mourikis is a Greek water polo player. He was part of the Greek team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Championship and the bronze medal at the 2016 World League and 2020 World League
Paulo Obradović is a Croatian water polo player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed for the Croatia men's national water polo team in the men's event, where they won the gold medal. He is 6 ft 3 inches tall. At club level, he played for Greek powerhouse Olympiacos, with whom he won the 2017–18 LEN Champions League.
