G-Taste is a Japanese erotic manga series written and illustrated by Hiroki Yagami and serialized in Kodansha's Mr. Magazine from 1996 to 2000, before being moved to Young Magazine Uppers from 2000 to 2004. The "G" in "G-taste" is used symbolically as the letter between "F" and "H". The anime was originally licensed in the US by SoftCel Pictures; the rights have since expired and now Critical Mass has since bought the rights. Not all of the series has been licensed as only the first five episodes have been released in the US. Episodes 6 and 7 have, to date, not been released in the US at all. An additional single episode OVA was released in 2010 bundled with the G-Best - G-Taste Best Selection compilation manga from Kodansha.
Himitsu no Akko-chan is an early magical girl manga series written and illustrated by Fujio Akatsuka. The story centers around an elementary school girl who is gifted a magic mirror that allows her to transform into anything she chooses, and the misadventures that follow. It was published in Shueisha's monthly Ribon magazine from 1962 to 1965. While Akko-chan predates the Sally the Witch manga, the Sally anime adaptation predates Akko-chan's.

Its original title was Gag da, and the change to Manga Life was made to better compete with Manga Time, a rival magazine published by Houbunsha. Most of the series appearing in the magazine use the yonkoma format. The magazine is released monthly on the 17th, though it sometimes appears on shelves slightly before or after that, depending on the speed of actual distribution. Manga Life is published in B5 size, and its Japanese magazine code is 18635.

It was serialised in a magazine Shosetsu Sunday Mainichi from 1973 but was interrupted because of the discontinuance of the magazine. Later, it was serialised in All Yomimono from 1982 to 2005.
