County Mayo is a county in Ireland, it is the third-largest in Ireland and the second-largest in the province of Connacht. Mayo has produced many noted artists, entertainers, politicians and businesspeople. Also included are people affiliated with Mayo before the creation of the Republic of Ireland.

Mayo County Council is the local authority. The population was 137,231 at the 2022 census. The boundaries of the county, which was formed in 1585, reflect the Mac William Íochtar lordship at that time.

Dara Calleary is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has served as Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation since August 2022. He has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Mayo constituency since the 2007 general election. He served as Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine from July to August 2020, Deputy leader of Fianna Fáil from 2018 to 2020 and Minister of State for Labour Affairs from 2009 to 2011.

St Gerald's College is an Irish all-boys De La Salle secondary school located in Castlebar, County Mayo. As of September 2016, there are approximately 45 teachers and 600 students attending the school. The original school was opened in 1908. The current school was opened in 1971. In 2009, the school celebrated its centenary. A new extension was added to the school, and opened in 2013.
