Mumbai City Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Mumbai, Maharashtra that competes in Indian Super League, the top-tier league of Indian football. The club was founded on 30 August 2014 during the inaugural season of Indian Super League. Former England international Peter Reid managed the club during the first season with Freddie Ljungberg being the marquee player. [1] [2]

The club competes in the Indian Super League, the top tier of the Indian football league system. Mumbai City is one of the most successful clubs in the history of ISL. They are the first club to win both the League Winners Shield and the ISL title, in a single season which it accomplished in the 2020–21 season. The 2014 season was the first ever season in Kerala Blasters Football Club's existence after its establishment in May 2014, as well as their first season in the inaugural season of Indian Super League. The club managed to secure qualification for the Indian Super League finals on 9 December 2014, after finishing the regular season in fourth position. They managed to make it to the final, but were defeated by Atlético de Kolkata through a stoppage time goal.

The 2015 Hero Indian Super League was the second season of the Indian Super League, a professional football league played in India since 2014. The season features eight teams. The regular season kicked off on 3 October and ended on 6 December, while the finals began on 11 December, which will conclude with the final match on 20 December. The defending champions Atlético de Kolkata were eliminated in the semi-finals by Chennaiyin FC. The final was played between Goa and Chennaiyin on 20 December 2015 at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa. Chennayin were crowned as champions defeating Goa 3–2 in the final.

The 2015 Season is Mumbai City's 2nd season in existence in the Indian Super League. Mumbai City began the season on 5 October 2015 against Pune City, with the opening game of their League campaign. For 2nd season, Nicolas Anelka was announced as the marquee player as well as the manager of the club, replacing Englishman Peter Reid. Mumbai City finished their season at 6th position in ISL 2015.

The 2016 Mumbai City FC season was the club's third season since its establishment in 2014 and their third season in the Indian Super League, their most successful till date. This season was also the first in which the club was coached by the Costarican Alexandre Guimarães, replacing Nicolas Anelka who served as player-coach the previous season. They finished first in the standings after the ending of the league season, qualifying for the semifinals for the very first time led by Diego Forlán who was their marquee player. However they lost in the semifinals to Atletico de Kolkata 1-5 on aggregate.

The 2017–18 Mumbai City FC season was the club's fourth season since its establishment in 2014 and their fourth season in the Indian Super League.

Vikram Partap Singh Sandhu is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Indian Super League club Mumbai City and the India national team.

The 2019–20 Indian Super League season was the sixth season of the Indian Super League, one of the top Indian professional football leagues. The regular season began on 20 October 2019 and concluded on 14 March 2020.
