These stations are the terminal stations of major lines (trains going beyond the Île-de-France region), and, except for Bercy, the suburban Transilien lines. Austerlitz, Saint-Lazare, Lyon and Nord are also stations on the RER network. All stations connect to stations of the Paris Métro.

Chemin de fer de Petite Ceinture

The Chemin de fer de Petite Ceinture is a line which circled Paris which is no longer in use. The majority of the stations on this line have been abandoned, though some have been reused.

The Gare Saint-Lazare, officially Paris Saint Lazare, is one of the seven large mainline railway station terminals in Paris, France. It was the first train station built in Paris, opening in 1837. It mostly serves train services to western suburbs, as well as intercity services toward Normandy using the Paris–Le Havre railway. Saint-Lazare is the third busiest station in France, after the Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon. It handles 290,000 passengers each day. The current station building opened in 1889 and was designed by architect Juste Lisch; the maître d'œuvre was Eugène Flachat.

Paris Métro Line 14 is one of the sixteen lines on the Paris Métro. It connects Saint-Denis–Pleyel and Aéroport d'Orly on a north-west south-east diagonal via the three major stations of Gare Saint-Lazare, the Châtelet–Les-Halles complex, and Gare de Lyon. The line goes through the centre of Paris, and also serves the communes of Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, Clichy, Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, Gentilly, Villejuif, Chevilly-Larue, L'Haÿ-les-Roses, Thiais, Paray-Vieille-Poste.

RER C is one of the five lines in the Réseau Express Régional, a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its suburbs. The 186-kilometre (116 mi) line crosses the region from north to south. Briefly, between September 1979 and May 1980, the line was known as the Transversal Rive Gauche. The line is operated by SNCF.

RER E is one of the five lines in the Réseau Express Régional, a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its suburbs. The 60-kilometre (37 mi) line travels between western and eastern suburbs, with all trains serving the stations in central Paris, before branching out towards the ends of the line.

Paris is the centre of a national, and with air travel, international, complex transport system. The modern system has been superimposed on a complex map of streets and wide boulevards that were set in their current routes in the 19th century. On a national level, it is the centre of a web of road and railway, and at a more local level, it is covered with a dense mesh of bus, tram and metro service networks.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Chemin de fer de Petite Ceinture</span> Closed orbital railway line in Paris

Paris's former Chemin de fer de Petite Ceinture, also colloquially known as La Petite Ceinture, was a circular railway built as a means to supply the city's fortification walls, and as a means of transporting merchandise and passengers between Paris' major rail-company stations. Beginning as two distinct 'Ceinture Syndicate' freight and 'Paris-Auteuil' passenger lines from 1851, these lines formed an arc that surrounded the northern two thirds of Paris, an arc that would become a full circle of rail around the capital when its third Ceinture Rive Gauche section was built in 1867.

Transilien is the brand name given to the commuter rail network serving Île-de-France, the region surrounding and including the city of Paris. The network consists of nine lines: H, J, K, L, N, P, R, U, and V each operated by SNCF, the state-owned French railway company. The lines begin and end in major Parisian stations, except for lines U and V which connect major stations outside the Paris city borders. Unlike the RER network, the Transilien trains do not cross through the Paris city centre.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pont Cardinet station</span> Suburban rail station in Paris

Pont Cardinet station is a railway station in Paris. It is situated on the Paris–Le Havre railway. It is the first station on the line originating from Gare Saint-Lazare in Paris. The station building is situated above the track level alongside Rue Cardinet. The station is equipped with escalators and Solari destination boards. The main line continues towards Clichy whilst a small line, now closed, branches off towards Pereire-Levallois and links St Lazare to the RER C, this branch was once part of Ligne d'Auteuil and closed in June 1996. Today, there are shuttle buses connecting Pereire-Levallois on RER C. Since December 2020, the station is also connected to the Paris Métro line 14 with the construction of the Pont Cardinet metro station.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Haussmann–Saint-Lazare station</span> Railway station in Paris, France

Haussmann–Saint-Lazare station is a station on the RER in Paris, France. Opened on 14 July 1999 as the terminus of the new Line E, it is situated beneath Boulevard Haussmann and directly connected to Gare Saint-Lazare, Auber, and two metro stations.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">AREP</span>

AREP is a multidisciplinary consultancy that is wholly owned by SNCF. It was formed in 1997 by Jean-Marie Duthilleul and Étienne Tricaud, architects and engineers. It has 600 staff from around 15 countries, including town planners, architects, engineers, economists, technicians, designers, and project managers. Raphaël Ménard, its president since 2018, has announced his intention to make AREP the laboratory for ecological design through the EMC2B approach.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Grande Ceinture line</span> Paris railway loop

The Grande Ceinture line is a railway line around Paris, located 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the Boulevard Périphérique. The decision to build it was taken at the end of the 19th century, to connect the radial lines linking the capital to the provinces and provide relief to the busy Petite Ceinture Line.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Porte de Clichy station</span> Paris Metro station

Porte de Clichy station is a station on Line 13 and Line 14 of the Paris Métro and RER C, as well as a stop on Île-de-France tramway Line 3b. Located in the 17th arrondissement, the Métro station is situated on the northwestern branch of Line 13, under the Avenue de Clichy. It serves the Tribunal de grande instance de Paris. The station is named after the Porte de Clichy, a gate in the nineteenth century Thiers wall of Paris, which led to Clichy.

Rosa Parks station is a railway station in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France near the Porte d'Aubervilliers. It is on the RER network, and also has a tram stop. The station opened on 13 December 2015, and bears the name of American civil rights activist Rosa Parks.

Émerainville–Pontault-Combault is a French railway station on the Paris-Est–Mulhouse-Ville railway, located in Émerainville, Seine-et-Marne department, Île-de-France region. It bears the name of Pontault-Combault as its territory reaches the south and the west of the building. It serves a district of Marne-la-Vallée.

Villiers-sur-Marne–Le Plessis-Trévise, more commonly known as Villiers-sur-Marne, is a French railway station in Villiers-sur-Marne, Val-de-Marne department. The station is at kilometric point 20.741 of the Paris-Est–Mulhouse-Ville railway; it is nearby the town of Le Plessis-Trévise hence its name. It is served by RER E.
