Partick Thistle Football Club are a professional football club from Glasgow, Scotland. Despite their name, the club are based at Firhill Stadium in the Maryhill area of the city, and have not played in Partick since 1908. The club have been members of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) since its formation in 2013, having previously been members of the Scottish Football League. In the 2020–21 season, Thistle won Scottish League One, the third tier of the SPFL structure, and returned to the Scottish Championship, having been relegated from there in 2019–20.

John Lambie was a Scottish football player and manager. Lambie made over 200 appearances for Falkirk and also had a successful time with St Johnstone.

The Scotland national football B team, controlled by the Scottish Football Association, is run occasionally as a second team for the Scotland national football team. During the period when Berti Vogts was manager of the national team, it was also known as the Scotland Future team.

Derek Whyte is a Scottish former footballer, who played for Celtic, Middlesbrough, Aberdeen and Partick Thistle. He also won twelve caps for Scotland during his 18-year playing career. He participated at Euro 1992, Euro 1996 and the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Alan Archibald</span> Scottish footballer & coach

Alan Archibald is a Scottish football coach and former player, who is currently a first-team coach at Kilmarnock. Archibald, who played as a defender, has been associated with Partick Thistle for most of his career. Beginning his professional career with the club as a teenager, he went on to make 423 appearances for Thistle in two spells, placing him tenth on the club's all-time list of most appearances. His only other professional club was Dundee United, where he played between 2003 and 2007 before rejoining Thistle. Archibald also played five times for the Scotland national under-21 team.

The 2011–12 season was Falkirk's second consecutive season in the Scottish First Division, having been relegated from the Scottish Premier League at the end of season 2009–10. Falkirk also competed in the Challenge Cup, League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

The 2011–12 season was Partick Thistle's sixth consecutive season in the Scottish First Division, having been promoted from the Scottish Second Division at the end of the 2005–06 season. Partick Thistle also competed in the Challenge Cup, League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Stuart Bannigan</span> Scottish footballer

Stuart Bannigan is a Scottish professional footballer who plays for Scottish Championship club Partick Thistle. A product of the club's youth setup, Bannigan played his first professional season on loan at the then Scottish Second Division side Ayr United. He also played for the Scotland U21 team.

Sean Welsh is a Scottish footballer, who plays as a midfielder for Queen's Park in the Scottish Championship. He has previously played for Hibernian, Stenhousemuir, Stirling Albion, Partick Thistle, Falkirk and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The 2012–13 season was Partick Thistle's seventh consecutive season in the Scottish First Division, having been promoted from the Scottish Second Division at the end of the 2005–06 season. Partick Thistle also competed in the Challenge Cup, League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

The 2012–13 season was Hamilton Academical's second consecutive season in the Scottish First Division, having been relegated from the Scottish Premier League at the end of the 2010–11 season. Hamilton also competed in the Challenge Cup, League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

The 2012–13 season was Airdrie United's first season back in the Scottish First Division. Airdrie also competed in the Challenge Cup, League Cup and the Scottish Cup. Airdrie were due to compete in their third consecutive season in the Scottish Second Division, having been relegated from the Scottish First Division at the end of the 2009–10 season. On 16 July 2012, it was confirmed that Airdrie would be promoted to the Scottish First Division to fill the vacancy left by Dundee's promotion to the Scottish Premier League. This was to fill the slot vacated by Rangers, who were voted into the Scottish Third Division following their liquidation.

The 2012–13 season was Dumbarton's first season back in the Scottish First Division, having been promoted from the Scottish Second Division at the end of the 2011–12 season. Dumbarton also competed in the Challenge Cup, League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

The 2013–14 season was Partick Thistle's first season back in the top flight of Scottish football after a nine-year absence and the first in the newly established Scottish Premiership, having been promoted from the Scottish First Division at the end of the 2012–13 season. Partick Thistle also competed in the League Cup and the Scottish Cup.

The 2020–21 season was Partick Thistle's first season in the third tier of Scottish football in Scottish League One, having been relegated from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2019–20 season. On 15 April 2020, the SPFL voted to end the lower leagues in Scottish football due to the coronavirus pandemic and as a result Partick were relegated to League One after two years in the Championship, which the club decided not to take legal action against. Partick Thistle also competed in the League Cup, and the Scottish Cup.

The 2021–22 season is Partick Thistle's first season back in the second tier of Scottish football in the Scottish Championship, having been promoted from League One at the end of the 2020–21 season. Thistle also competed in the League Cup, Challenge Cup and the Scottish Cup.

The 2022–23 Scottish Premiership was the tenth season of the Scottish Premiership, the highest division of Scottish football, and the 126th edition overall of the top national league competition, not including one cancelled due to World War II. The season began on 30 July 2022.
