Jalandhar is a city in the state of Punjab in India. With a considerable population, it ranks as the third most-populous city in the state and is the largest city in the Doaba region. Jalandhar lies alongside the historical Grand Trunk Road and is a well-connected junction for both rail and road networks.

Dr. D. P. Singh, born 1956, is an Indo-Canadian scientist, educationist, author science fiction writer, Sikh theologian, and TV host. As a widely travelled person, mostly for his academic research, and promotion of science in developing countries, he has published about 100 research papers in Acoustics, Polymer Physics, Condensed Matter Physics and Material Science. Besides, he has published over 1000 general articles on the topics related to Science, Environment and Religion.

Ajit Singh Saini (1922–2007) was an eminent and critically acclaimed writer of Punjab (India). He was associated with the Punjabi daily "Ajit" as its managing editor and columnist. He is remembered in Punjab both as a freedom-fighter and an acclaimed writer and columnist. He was an officer in Indian National Army (INA) and a close lieutenant of Subhas Chandra Bose. Saini worked with the wire service of INA and Arzi Hukumat-e-Azad Hind or Provisional Government of Free India, more simply, Indian government in exile.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal is an Indian politician and a former Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing Industries in the Government of India and Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Bathinda. She is a member of Shiromani Akali Dal Party. Her husband Sukhbir Singh Badal is former deputy chief minister of Punjab and the president of Shiromani Akali Dal. She resigned from the cabinet on 17 September 2020 to protest against few farmer related ordinances and legislation.

Punjab, historically known as Panchanada or Pentapotamia, is a state in northern India. Forming part of the larger Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent, the state is bordered by the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh to the north and northeast, Haryana to the south and southeast, and Rajasthan to the southwest; by the Indian union territories of Chandigarh to the east and Jammu and Kashmir to the north. It shares an international border with Punjab, a province of Pakistan to the west. The state covers an area of 50,362 square kilometres, which is 1.53% of India's total geographical area, making it the 19th-largest Indian state by area out of 28 Indian states. With over 27 million inhabitants, Punjab is the 16th-largest Indian state by population, comprising 23 districts. Punjabi, written in the Gurmukhi script, is the most widely spoken and the official language of the state. The main ethnic group are the Punjabis, with Sikhs (57.7%) and Hindus (38.5%) forming the dominant religious groups. The state capital is Chandigarh, a union territory and also the capital of the neighbouring state of Haryana. Three tributaries of the Indus, viz., Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi, flow through Punjab.

British Punjabis are citizens or residents of the United Kingdom whose heritage originates wholly or partly in the Punjab, a region in the Indian subcontinent, which is divided between India and Pakistan. Numbering 700,000 in 2006, Punjabis represent the largest ethnicity among British Asians. They are a major sub-group of the British-Indian and British Pakistani communities.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known professionally as Sidhu Moose Wala, was an Indian rapper and singer. He worked predominantly in Punjabi-language music and cinema. Moose Wala is generally regarded to have been the greatest Punjabi artists of his generation and to many, amongst the greatest Punjabi artists of all time. Moreover, he was considered a key figure in opening the door to mainstream music for Punjabi artists.

Jaskaran SinghAujla, known professionally as Karan Aujla, is an Indian singer, rapper and songwriter based in Canada who is primarily associated with Punjabi music. He is known for his numerous tracks which have charted on the UK Asian chart published by the Official Charts Company, while seven have charted on the Global YouTube music chart. His debut album Bacthafucup peaked at number 20 on Billboard Canadian Albums chart and 34th on the New Zealand albums chart, earning him the title of the Largest Digital Artist 2021 on Spotify and had been listed in their Most Popular Artists in Punjabi Music Industry.

<i>Kaka Ji</i> 2019 Indian film

Kaka Ji: Son of Royal Sardar is a 2019 Indian-Punjabi drama film written by Gill Raunta and directed by Mandeep Benipal. Associate director Vinod Kumar. Produced by Dreamreality Movies and Ravneet Chahal; it stars Dev Kharoud, Aarushi Sharma, and Jagjeet Sandhu in lead roles. In the film a young man rethinks his involvement in a gang after falling in love. The film was released worldwide on 18 January 2019.

Jagjit Singh Dardi is an Indian journalist and an educationist from Punjab. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Punjabi language daily newspaper Chardikala, a newspaper that was started in 1977. In 1970 Dardi started a fortnightly Charhdikala Marg, whose Founder Editor was his father G Harnam Singh. This fortnightly paper was converted into a daily newspaper in 1977. He is the Chairman of the Punjabi news channel Chardilkala Time TV. He is also the Chairman of Sri Guru Harkrishan Group of Institutes, a chain of higher education institutes. He was awarded Padma Shri in the year 2022 for his services in national integration, communal harmony, contributions in the field of media, education and promotion of Punjabi language, culture and heritage.In 2022, Department of Public Relations Chandigarh administration announced Dardi as a Chairperson of the Chandigarh Press Accreditation Committee. Punjabi Media house Nirpakh Post and published a biography of Dardi.

<i>Chhalla Mud Ke Nahi Aaya</i> 2022 Indian film

Chhalla Mud Ke Nahi Aaya is a 2022 Indian Punjabi-language historical drama film directed by Amrinder Gill, written by Amberdeep Singh, and co-produced by Rhythm Boyz Entertainment and Amberdeep Films. It stars Amrinder Gill, Binnu Dhillon, Sargun Mehta, Karamjit Anmol and Amrit Waraich. The film is based on the hardships faced by Chhalla from pre-partitioned Punjab who goes to Canada in search of work and financial stability. It marked the feature film directorial debut for Amrinder Gill.

<i>Tufang</i> (film) 2023 Indian film

Tufang is a 2023 Punjabi-language film written and directed by Dheeraj Kedarnath Rattan. The film is produced by Geet MP3. It stars Guri, Rukshar Dhillon, and Jagjeet Sandhu in lead roles and Harpreet Bains, Baljinder Bains, Mahavir Bhullar and Karanveer Khullar in supporting roles. The film was released on 21 July 2023.
