<span class="mw-page-title-main">K-pop</span> South Korean popular music genre

K-pop, short for Korean popular music, is a form of popular music originating in South Korea as part of South Korean culture. It includes styles and genres from around the world, such as pop, hip hop, R&B, rock, jazz, gospel, reggae, electronic dance, folk, country, disco, and classical on top of its traditional Korean music roots. The term "K-pop" became popular in the 2000s, especially in the international context. The Korean term for domestic pop music is gayo, which is still widely used within South Korea. While "K-pop" can refer to all popular music or pop music from South Korea, it is colloquially often used in a narrower sense for any Korean music and artists associated with the entertainment and idol industry in the country, regardless of the genre.

Korean hip-hop, also known as K-hip-hop or K-rap, is a subgenre of the South Korean popular music.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Koyote</span> South Korean co-ed group

Koyote, also known as KYT is a South Korean co-ed vocal group consisting of members Kim Jong-min, Shin Ji, and Bbaek Ga. The group, which is known for its signature dance and hip hop sound, debuted in 1998 with hit song "Genuine".

g.o.d South Korean boy band

Groove Over Dose, known by the acronym g.o.d, is a South Korean boy band formed by SidusHQ. Debuting in 1999, the group became one of the most popular boy bands of the early 2000s in South Korea. The members had gone on to solo careers in the entertainment industry after indefinitely discontinuing group activity in 2005 following the departure of a member. However, they regrouped as a quintet and made a comeback in July 2014. Although the group is largely known for their "story telling" lyrical style and signature blend of R&B and rap, their repertoire features a diverse array of genres ranging from hip hop to funk.

Mirotic is the fourth Korean studio album by South Korean pop group TVXQ, released on September 26, 2008, by SM Entertainment. This is the group's last Korean album to feature members Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu.

MBLAQ is a South Korean boy band created by South Korean singer Rain under J. Tune Camp. The group consists of Seungho, G.O, and Mir, and formerly Lee Joon and Thunder. The group debuted on October 15, 2009, at Rain's Legend of Rainism concert.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kim Hyo-yeon</span> South Korean singer (born 1989)

Kim Hyo-yeon, known professionally as Hyoyeon or DJ Hyo, is a South Korean singer, dancer, DJ, and television personality. She debuted as a member of the girl group Girls' Generation in August 2007, which went on to become one of the best-selling artists in South Korea and one of the most popular K-pop groups worldwide. She has since participated in other SM Entertainment projects, including Girls' Generation-Oh!GG and Got the Beat. Hyoyeon also released solo singles: "Mystery" (2016), "Wannabe" (2017) prior made her solo debut as HYO with the single "Sober" in 2018.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Secret (South Korean group)</span> South Korean girl group

Secret (Korean: 시크릿) was a South Korean K-pop girl group formed by TS Entertainment in 2009. The group originally debuted with four members: Jun Hyo-seong, Jung Ha-na, Song Ji-eun and Han Sun-hwa. They released their debut single I Want You Back October 2009. Secret's debut single did not meet great success and it was not until the following year that the group saw a rise in popularity. In 2010, Secret released two singles Magic and Madonna which earned much attention with both singles peaking at No. 2 and No. 1 respectively on the Gaon Digital Chart. With the success of "Magic" and "Madonna", the group received the "Newcomer Award" at the 25th Golden Disk Awards.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Thunder (singer)</span> South Korean singer

Park Sang-hyun, known by his stage name Thunder, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, actor and model. He is a former member of South Korean boy band MBLAQ. On December 16, 2014, it was announced that he had departed from the group to focus on studying music. He signed with Mystic Entertainment's music label APOP on February 11, 2015 and released his debut extended play on December 7, 2016.

<i>I Got a Boy</i> 2013 studio album by Girls Generation

I Got a Boy is the fourth Korean studio album by South Korean girl group Girls' Generation. It was released for digital download on January 1, 2013, by SM Entertainment, and was made available for physical sales the following day by KT Music. Musically, the album is characterized as combining elements from a wide range of genres including R&B, new wave, and EDM. This is the last studio album and Korean studio album with their founding member Jessica before her dismissal from the group in 2014 and subsequent departure from SM Entertainment in 2015.

2Yoon was the first and only sub-group of South Korean girl group 4Minute, formed by Cube Entertainment in 2013. The sub-group consisted of Gayoon and Jiyoon.

<i>Give It to Me</i> (album) 2013 studio album by Sistar

Give It to Me is the second and final studio album by South Korean girl group Sistar. The album was released on June 11, 2013, by Starship Entertainment and distributed by LOEN Entertainment, with the song of the same title used as the promotional song. The album contains 11 songs.

<i>Chemistry</i> (Trouble Maker EP) 2013 EP by Trouble Maker

Chemistry is the second and final extended play by South Korean duo Trouble Maker, which consists of 4Minute's Hyuna and Beast's Hyunseung. It was released digitally on October 28, 2013 with the lead single "Now".

<i>1×1=1 (To Be One)</i> 2017 EP by Wanna One

1×1=1 is the debut extended play by South Korean boy group Wanna One, a project group created through the 2017 Mnet survival show, Produce 101 Season 2, composed of eleven trainees from different entertainment companies that will promote for 18 months under YMC Entertainment. The album was released digitally and physically on August 7, 2017, by YMC Entertainment, Stone Music Entertainment and CJ E&M Music. A Japanese version of the album was released on September 27, 2017, through Pony Canyon. The album was re-released under the title 1−1=0 on November 13, 2017.
