Zoya Akhtar is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Hindi cinema. Born to Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani, she completed a diploma in filmmaking from NYU and assisted directors Mira Nair, Tony Gerber and Dev Benegal, before becoming an independent writer and director. She is the recipient of several accolades, including four Filmfare Awards. Akhtar, along with Reema Kagti, founded Tiger Baby Films, a film and web studio in October 2015.
Harshdeep Kaur is an Indian playback singer known for her Bollywood Hindi, Punjabi, English and Sufi songs. She is popularly known as "Sufi Ki Sultana" because of her soulful Sufi renditions. After winning titles in two reality shows, Kaur established herself as a lead singer in Bollywood soundtracks. Gully Boy is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language musical drama film directed by Zoya Akhtar, and written by Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The film was produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar under the banners of Tiger Baby Films and Excel Entertainment productions, with American rapper Nas as an executive producer. It stars Ranveer Singh in the title role alongside Alia Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Varma, Amruta Subhash and Vijay Raaz in supporting roles. Inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers DIVINE and Naezy, the film is a coming-of-age story about aspiring street rapper Murad Ahmed (Singh), from the Dharavi slums of Mumbai.
Siddhant Chaturvedi is an Indian actor who appears in Hindi films. He starred as a teenage cricketer in the Amazon Prime Video web series Inside Edge from 2017 to 2019 and ventured into films with the supporting role of a street rapper in the musical drama Gully Boy (2019), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has since starred in the romantic drama Gehraiyaan (2022) and the coming-of-age drama Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (2023).
The 65th Filmfare Awards ceremony, presented by The Times Group, honored the best Indian Hindi-language films of 2019. The ceremony was held on 15 February 2020 in Guwahati and broadcast on Colors TV the following day. This is the first time in six decades that a Filmfare ceremony was held outside Mumbai. Karan Johar and Vicky Kaushal were hosts of the award ceremony.

The 18-song soundtrack includes work by DIVINE, Naezy, Sez on the Beat, Rishi Rich, Dub Sharma, Jasleen Royal, Ace, Ishq Bector, MC Altaf, MC TodFod, 100RBH, Maharya, Noxious D, Viveick Rajagopalan, and others. The soundtrack album had been composed by hip hop artists, rather than a traditional Bolywood composer.

Kabir Singh is the soundtrack to the 2019 film of the same name, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, which is a remake of Vanga's own Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017), starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. Released by T-Series on 7 June 2019, the album consisted nine songs composed by Mithoon, Amaal Mallik, Vishal Mishra, Sachet–Parampara and Akhil Sachdeva with lyrics written by Mithoon, Irshad Kamil, Manoj Muntashir and Kumaar. Harshavardhan Rameshwar, who scored the original counterpart, composed background music for the film.
War is the soundtrack to the 2019 Hindi-language action film of the same name directed by Siddharth Anand, starring Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor. The soundtrack to the film featured two songs composed by Vishal–Shekhar and three instrumental themes from the film score composed by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara. It was released by YRF Music on 27 September 2019.
