Sarah McLachlan is a Canadian singer-songwriter most known for founding the Lilith Fair women's music festival. She has released a total of six studio albums, being Surfacing her top selling album with more than 8 million copies in the U.S. alone, and another seven compilation and live albums. All of her recordings have been released through the Canadian-based Nettwerk Records and distributed by Arista Records. Her last three studio albums have reached the No. 1 place in the Canadian Albums Chart and the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. She has sold a total of 40 million copies worldwide.
To date McLachlan has received three Grammy Awards, where she's been nominated for all of her releases since 1995, a total of eight Juno Awards from her home country. She's also been awarded by the Billboard Music Awards, MuchMusic Video Awards, and the Western Canadian Music Awards. She also been included in numerous music lists by VH1 and the Rolling Stone magazine. McLachlan has also been appointed as Officer of the Order of Canada.

"Building a Mystery" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan from her fourth studio album, Surfacing (1997). At a live performance, Sarah explains the song as being "basically about the fact that we all... have insecurities to hide, and we often do that by putting on a facade." She also goes on to say that "unfortunately, if we just be who we are, that's usually the more attractive and beautiful thing".
The Polaris Music Prize is a music award annually given to the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label. The award was established in 2006 with a $20,000 cash prize; the prize was increased to $30,000 for the 2011 award. In May 2015, the Polaris Music Prize was increased to $50,000, an additional $20,000, sponsored by Slaight Music. Additionally, second place prizes for the nine other acts on the Short List increased from $2,000 to $3,000. Polaris officials also announced The Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize, an award that "will annually honour five albums from the five decades before Polaris launched in 2006." Details about the selection process for this prize are still to be revealed.

Ashton Dumar Norwill Simmonds, known professionally as Daniel Caesar, is a Canadian R&B singer. After independently building a following through the release of two critically acclaimed EPs, Praise Break (2014) and Pilgrim's Paradise (2015), Caesar released his debut studio album, Freudian, in August 2017, which garnered widespread critical acclaim. He released his second studio album, Case Study 01, in June 2019. In March 2021, Caesar was featured alongside Giveon on Justin Bieber's single "Peaches", which serves as his first number-one song on the US Billboard Hot 100. More recently, Daniel released his third studio album NEVER ENOUGH in April of 2023 under his new label, Republic Records.
Jessica Reyez is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Her 2016 single "Figures" peaked at number 58 on the Canadian Hot 100 in 2017 and was certified triple Platinum by Music Canada and Platinum by the RIAA. Her 2017 EP, Kiddo, led to four nominations at the 2018 Juno Awards, winning Breakthrough Artist. Her follow up EP, Being Human in Public, was released in 2018. It won R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards and was nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Reyez again won the R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, for "Feel it Too" with Tory Lanez and Tainy, at the 2020 Juno Awards, where she was also nominated for Artist of the Year. Reyez has written songs for Calvin Harris, Kehlani, Dua Lipa and Normani, most notably penning the hit "One Kiss", and has collaborated with Eminem on multiple occasions. Her debut album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, was released on March 27, 2020, to widespread critical acclaim, and saw commercial success, entering at number thirteen on the US Billboard 200.
Gary Slaight is a Canadian broadcasting executive and philanthropist, most noted for his efforts to develop and support the Canadian music industry. He is currently the chief executive officer of Slaight Communications, a firm which is a minority investor in Sirius XM Canada, and of Slaight Music, a talent development and promotional firm which funds projects in artist development, music publishing and digital music distribution as well as serving as a key partner in the Juno Awards, the Polaris Music Prize, the Canadian Country Music Awards and the Prism Prize.
