The National Order of Merit is a French order of merit with membership awarded by the President of the French Republic, founded 3 December 1963 by President Charles de Gaulle. The order was established to replace the number of ministerial orders previously awarded by numerous ministries, and to create an award for French citizens as well as foreign nationals for distinguished civil or military achievements, though of a lesser level than that required for the award of the Legion of Honour.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Legion of Honour</span> Highest French order of merit

The National Order of the Legion of Honour, formerly the Royal Order of the Legion of Honour, is the highest French order of merit, both military and civil. Established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, it has been retained by all later French governments and regimes.

The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres is an order of France established on 2 May 1957 by the Minister of Culture. Its supplementary status to the Ordre national du Mérite was confirmed by President Charles de Gaulle in 1963. Its purpose is the recognition of significant contributions to the arts, literature, or the propagation of these fields.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Umar Wirahadikusumah</span> 4th Vice President of Indonesia

Umar Wirahadikusumah was an Indonesian politician and former army general, who served as the fourth vice president of Indonesia, serving from 1983 until 1988. Previously, he was chair of the Audit Board of Indonesia from 1973 until 1983, and Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army from 1969 until 1973. Born to a noble Sundanese family, he was educated at the Europeesche Lagere School Tasikmalaya and Meer Uitgebreid Lager Onderwijs Pasundan. He entered the military in 1943, during the Japanese occupation. He would go on to serve in the Indonesian Army during and after the Indonesian National Revolution, seeing combat in the Madiun Affair and the PRRI rebellion.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">L. B. Moerdani</span> Indonesian military person (1932–2004)

General (Ret.) Leonardus Benjamin Moerdani was the ABRI Commander from 1983 to 1988 and also served as Indonesia's Minister of Defense and Security. He is famous due to his strong stance in many decisive situations in Indonesian political and social life. He was also significant as a leader who was Catholic in a predominantly Muslim community.

The Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (Tentera) is a decoration awarded to members of the Singapore Armed Forces and allied military members for exceptionally distinguished service or merit in senior command or staff positions.

The Order of National Security Merit is one of South Korea's orders of merit. It is awarded by the President of South Korea for "outstanding meritorious services in the interest of national security."

General (Rtd) Tan Sri Md Hashim bin Hussein is a Malaysian retired Army officer, diplomat and politician. He served as Chief of the Malaysian Army from 1 January 1999 to 31 December 2002.

The Ordre national du Mérite is a French order of merit with membership awarded by the President of the French Republic, founded on 3 December 1963 by President Charles de Gaulle. The reason for the order's establishment was twofold: to replace the large number of ministerial orders previously awarded by the ministries; and to create an award that can be awarded at a lower level than the Legion of Honour, which is generally reserved for French citizens. It comprises about 185,000 members; 306,000 members have been admitted or promoted in 50 years.

Orders, decorations and medals of the State of Palestine are awarded according to a system established and implemented during the period 2009-2018 within the frame of the institutional and state-building process.

The General Elections Institution was the body that organises elections in Indonesia during the New Order. Its responsibilities include deciding which parties can contest elections, organising the voting and announcing the results and seats won in the various branches of the government. The institution is under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Dadang Suprayogi was an Indonesian military officer and politician. He served in the Indonesian Army, primarily in Kodam III/Siliwangi, before he was appointed minister under Sukarno in 1958. He served as ministers of production, and later minister of public works, until 1966. Afterwards, he chaired the Audit Board of Indonesia for a time before participating and leading sports organizations in Indonesia, including heading the National Sports Committee of Indonesia and representing the country in the International Olympic Committee.

Djohari Kahar was an Indonesian politician and lecturer. A member of Golkar, he served as Chairman of the West Sumatra Regional People's Representative Council and also represented West Sumatra on the People's Representative Council and the People's Consultative Assembly.

Previously, he served as the 10th Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly from 1982 until 1987, Chairman of the Indonesian Armed Forces from 1971 until 1974, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand from 1975 until 1978.
