In Trinity Term 1988, the Oxford Students' Alliance Society changed its name to the Oxford University Social and Liberal Democrats, in line with the then-name of the newly merged national party. Between 2010 and 2016, an informal system of co-chairs arose, as opposed to the traditional Presidential system. This was partially reversed with the adoption of a new constitution in 2015, and fully reversed by constitutional amendment in 2017.
