This is a list of mayors and shire presidents of the City of Lake Macquarie and its predecessors in the Hunter Region of New South Wales
The Shire of Lake Macquarie was proclaimed on 6 March 1906. It became a municipality on 1 March 1977 and a city on 7 September 1984. [1] [2] The Shire was represented by a Shire President and 16 aldermen. When it became a municipality in 1977, the President's title changed to Mayor, but the aldermen's title remained unchanged until the passage of the Local Government Act 1993.
The longest-serving mayor in the city of Lake Macquarie was Cr J E. Kilpatrick, with twelve years as the mayor of Lake Macquarie. J E. Kilpatrick is closely followed by the only mayor to serve as president during the local government's time as a municipality and also to serve as the first mayor of the city of Lake Macquarie, Mr G R. Pasterfield, with eleven years as municipality president and city mayor. The shortest-serving mayor or shire president was M. L. Hunter MP, who resigned as shire president after winning the NSW state electoral division of Lake Macquarie in 1969 after nine months as shire president.

The City of Lake Macquarie is a local government area in the Hunter Region in New South Wales, Australia. It was proclaimed a city from 7 September 1984. The city is situated adjacent to the city of Newcastle and is widely considered as a part of the Greater Newcastle area. The city is approximately 150 km (93 mi) north of Sydney. One of its major tourist attractions is its lake, also named Lake Macquarie.
The Communist Party of Australia (CPA), known as the Australian Communist Party (ACP) from 1944 to 1951, was an Australian communist party founded in 1920. The party existed until roughly 1991, with its membership and influence having been in a steady decline since its peak in 1945. Like most communist parties in the West, the party was heavily involved in the labour movement and the trade unions. Its membership, popularity and influence grew significantly during most of the interwar period before reaching its climax in 1945, where the party achieved a membership of slightly above 22,000 members. Although the party did not achieve a federal MP, Fred Paterson was elected to the Parliament of Queensland at the 1944 state election. He won re-election in 1947 before the seat was abolished. The party also held office in over a dozen local government areas across New South Wales and Queensland.
Ottawa City Council is the governing body of the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is composed of 24 city councillors and the mayor. The mayor is elected at large, while each councillor represents wards throughout the city. Council members are elected to four-year terms, with the last election being on October 24, 2022. The council meets at Ottawa City Hall in downtown Ottawa. Much of the council's work is done in the standing committees made up of sub-groups of councillors. The decisions made in these committees are presented to the full council and voted upon.
The City of Gosford was a local government area that was located in the Central Coast region in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The incorporation of Gosford dates back to 1886 when the Town of Gosford was proclaimed as the Borough of Gosford, becoming the Municipality of Gosford from 1906. In 1908, the Gosford Municipality merged into Erina Shire which covered the remaining Central Coast area outside of Gosford, but regained its independence in 1936. From 1 January 1947, local government in the Central Coast region was reorganised, creating Gosford Shire and Wyong Shire, and the final boundaries of Gosford City Council date from this period. From 1 January 1980, Gosford Shire was granted city status, becoming the City of Gosford. On 12 May 2016 the Minister for Local Government amalgamated the City of Gosford and Wyong Shire Councils. The Central Coast Council was established on the same day, covering the combined areas.

Mervyn (Merv) Leslie Hunter was an Australian politician. He was the state Member of Parliament for the electorate of Lake Macquarie representing the Labor Party (ALP) in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1969 to 1991 and was the Shire President of the City of Lake Macquarie in 1969, resigning to enter the NSW Parliament. His son Jeff Hunter was the member for Lake Macquarie from 1991 to 2007.
