Chapter 3 "COMPOSITION OF LOCAL COUNCILS", clause 14 declares

14. Election of Chairmen of Local Councils.- For every Local Council there shall be a Chairman who shall be elected in the prescribed manner: Provided that the Chairman of Metropolitan Corporation may be designated as Mayor.

According to Balochistan local Govt Act 2010, it has only one mayor for Quetta Metropolitan Corporation. [6] [7]

List of Punjab mayors

there are total of 12 mayors in Punjab for 11 municipal corporations and one metropolitan corporation. [8] [9]

The Punjab Local Govt defines mayor and deputy mayor as:

(k) “Deputy Mayor” means a Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Corporation or a Municipal Corporation;

(x) “Mayor” means the Mayor of the Metropolitan Corporation or a Municipal Corporation;

PLGA 2013 also defines Metropolitan and municipal corporations as;

(z) “Metropolitan Corporation” means Metropolitan Corporation Lahore;

CHAPTER III CONSTITUTION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

(d) an integrated urban area having a population of more than five hundred thousand to be a Municipal Corporation.

List of Sindh mayors

There are 4 mayors of Sindh, one mayor for metropolitan corporation, 3 mayors for municipal corporations. [11] [12]

The Sindh Local Govt defines mayor and deputy mayor as:

x. ‘Chairman’ means the chairman and include chairperson of Council constituted under the Act but in the case of a Municipal Corporation or a Metropolitan Corporation, the Chairman may be called the Mayor.

xlviii. “Mayor” means the Mayor of a Corporation;

xxi. “Deputy Mayor” means the Deputy Mayor of the Corporation;

The Pakistan Muslim League Urdu: پاکستان مسلم لیگ (ق); Pākistān Muslim Līg (Qāf), Acronyms: PML(Q), PML-Q, PMLQ, "Q League" is a political party in Pakistan. Mayor of Karachi is the executive of the Karachi metropolitan corporation and the Karachi local government system of the city of Karachi which is the third tier of governance in Pakistan after Federal and provincial governments.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Jan Mohammad Jamali</span> Pakistani politician

Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali is a Pakistani politician who served as the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly from 4 June 2013 to 2015. Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali served as the 9th Chief Minister of Balochistan from 13 August 1998 till 12 October 1999 when Army Chief General Pervaiz Mushraf took over the Government. He served two terms as Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2006 to March 2012. Jan Mohammad Jamali contested the 2013 elections from PB25 and won on the seat of PML-N. In 2018, he again contested from PB14 and won on the ticket of BAP. He is a well-known personality throughout Balochistan.

The Municipal Government of Karachi is the administrative body for the city of [[Karachi], [Sindh]], Pakistan. Presently the Municipal Local Government Karachi consists mainly of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, headed by the Mayor or Administrator.

Senate elections were held in Pakistan on 5 March 2015 to elect the replacements for 52 retiring senators. Those retiring include chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and deputy chairman Sabir Ali Baloch of the upper house. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the majority party in Senate, would lose 21 members, followed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz would lose 9 and Awami National Party would lose 6 members.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2018 Pakistani Senate election</span>

Triennial Senate elections were in Pakistan held on 3 March 2018 to replace 52 retiring senators - half of the Senate's strength - with the winning candidates serving six-year terms. Overall, Pakistan Muslim League (N) came out as the largest party, followed by the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The results of these elections were steeped in controversy due to rampant allegations of horse trading and vote-buying, which lead to the Prime Minister and opposition leader Imran Khan calling for reforms. Prior to this election, PML (N) candidates were declared as independents by the Election Commission of Pakistan owing to a Supreme Court judgment.

The Mayor of Lahore is the leader of the municipal government of Lahore in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The mayor is directly-elected in municipal elections every four years alongside 9 deputy town mayors. The mayor is responsible for the administration of government services, the composition of councils and committees overseeing Lahore District departments and serves as the chairperson for meeting of Lahore Council.

Mayor of Quetta

Nazim-e-Quetta is the Mayor who head the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) which controls the Local Government system of Quetta, Balochistan.

Mayor of Faisalabad Head of the Local Government of Faisalabad

Nazim-e-Faisalabad is the mayor who heads the Faisalabad Municipal Corporation (FMC) which controls the local government of Faisalabad.

Mayor of Sukkur

Nazim-e-Sukkur is the Mayor who heads the Sukkur Municipal Corporation (SMC) which controls the Local Government system of Sukkur.

Provincial elections were held in the Pakistani province of Balochistan on 25 July 2018. Newly formed Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) emerged as the largest party by winning 24 seats followed by Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal who won 10 seats. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won 7 seats for the very first time.

Metropolitan Corporation Rawalpindi(MCR) (Urdu: راولپنڈی میٹروپولیٹن کارپوریشن) is a municipal authority established under the Punjab Local Government Act 2022 in Rawalpindi Pakistan. MCR comprises 46 Union Councils in Rawalpindi city, Pakistan. The Union Councils elect their own chairman, who are in turn responsible for electing Rawalpindi's Mayor and Deputy Mayors.

2005 Karachi local government elections were the first Karachi local government elections to elect a mayor and a local council.

The 2023 Karachi local government elections were held in Karachi, Pakistan on 15 January 2023 to elect members of local councils. These members would then elect the Mayor of Karachi (2023-2027). These elections were the 3rd Karachi local government elections.
