This is a list of members of the second Gauteng Provincial Legislature as elected in the election of 2 June 1999. In that election, the African National Congress (ANC) retained the majority it had won in South Africa's first post-apartheid elections in 1994; it held all 50 of its 73 seats in the legislature. [1] The Democratic Party was the official opposition, from 2000 as part of the Democratic Alliance. The ANC's Mbhazima Shilowa was elected Premier of Gauteng and Firoz Cachalia served as Speaker. [2]

Msimanga was the Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality from 2016 to 2019 and the DA Provincial Chairperson from 2014 to 2017. He was the Democratic Alliance's Gauteng Premier candidate for the 2019 elections.

Mondli Gungubele is a South African politician, trade union leader and educator who is the current Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies and a member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the African National Congress. He previously served as Executive Mayor of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (2010–2016), as Deputy Minister of Finance (2018–2019), as Chairperson of the Social Development Committee (2019–2021) and as Minister in the Presidency (2021–2023).

Refiloe Nt'sekhe is a South African politician who has been a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since 2014. A member of the Democratic Alliance, she served as one of the party's deputy federal chairpersons between 2015 and 2023 and as one of the party's national spokespeople between 2015 and 2020.

Lebogang Isaac Maile is a South African politician currently serving as Gauteng's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development. A member of the African National Congress (ANC), he has served in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since May 2009 and in the Gauteng Executive Council since 2010.

Janho Engelbrecht is a South African politician and a member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the opposition Democratic Alliance. He had previously served as a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

Gauteng is one of the nine multi-member constituencies of the National Assembly of South Africa, the lower house of the Parliament of South Africa, the national legislature of South Africa. The constituency was established as Pretoria–Witwatersrand–Vereeniging in 1994 when the National Assembly was established by the Interim Constitution following the end of Apartheid. It was renamed Gauteng in 1999. It is conterminous with the province of Gauteng. The constituency currently elects 48 of the 400 members of the National Assembly using the closed party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2019 general election it had 6,381,220 registered electors.

Gerhardus Willem Koornhof is a South African politician and economist who serves as the Parliamentary Counsellor to President Cyril Ramaphosa. When Ramaphosa served as deputy president, Koornhof was his parliament counsellor. An MP since 1994, Koornhof currently represents the African National Congress, though he previously represented United Democratic Movement between 1999 and 2003 and the National Party/New National Party before that.

Tshilidzi Bethuel Munyai is a South African politician who was elected as an African National Congress Member of the National Assembly of South Africa in 2019. In August 2021, Munyai served as the acting chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health. He resigned from Parliament in January 2023 and was subsequently sworn in as a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

Kedibone Pauline Diale is a South African politician. She was elected to the Gauteng Provincial Legislature in 2019 as a member of the African National Congress. In October 2022, she was appointed the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for Transport and Logistics in Gauteng.

Kgosientsho "Sputla" Ramokgopa is a South African politician who is the Minister in the Presidency responsible for Electricity. He was the Mayor of Tshwane from 2010 to 2016. He was also a Member of the Executive Council in the Gauteng provincial government in 2019 and worked in the Presidency of South Africa as head of infrastructure from 2019 to 2023.

Humphrey Mmemezi is a South African politician and civil servant who has served as a Member of the National Assembly from March 2023. He previously served in the National Assembly between 2014 and 2019 and served as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Works from 2017. He was formerly a Member of the Executive Council for Local Government and Housing in the Gauteng provincial government from 2010 to 2012. He resigned from the provincial government in July 2012 when he was found guilty of contravening the legislature's code of conduct and ethics, including in using his government credit card for personal expenses.

Gladstone Mandlenkosi "Mandla" Nkomfe is a South African politician who was Member of the Executive Council for Finance in the Gauteng provincial government from 2009 to 2014. From 1999 to 2014, he was a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, serving as the legislature's Chairperson of Committees and then as its Majority Chief Whip. He was also the Deputy Provincial Secretary of the Gauteng branch of his political party, the African National Congress, from 1998 to 2010.

Firoz Cachalia is a South African lawyer and politician who was a Member of the Gauteng Executive Council from 2004 to 2010. Formerly an anti-apartheid activist in the Transvaal, he first joined the Gauteng Provincial Legislature in 1994, representing the African National Congress, and he served as Speaker of the provincial legislature from 1999 to 2004. After he left the provincial government he was appointed as a law professor at Wits University and, from 2022, as the chairperson of the National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council.

Saa'd Cachalia is a South African politician and diplomat who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature from 1994 to 2012. A lawyer by training, he was Limpopo's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Treasury from 2006 to 2011. He left provincial politics in 2012 and subsequently served as the South African Ambassador to Qatar and as South African Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

Ismail Mahomed Cachalia is a retired South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2001 to 2009. He also served an earlier partial term in the first democratic Parliament.

Samuel Johannes de Beer is a South African politician and former Christian minister who served in Parliament from 1974 to 2001, excepting a brief hiatus from 1998 to 1999. He subsequently joined the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

Dikeledi Rebecca Tsotetsi is a South African politician from Gauteng. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2009 to 2019 and was the Mayor of Emfuleni Local Municipality from 2006 to 2008.

Daniel Kapeni Maluleke is a retired South African politician who served in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2009, representing the Gauteng constituency. He was a member of the Democratic Party (DP), later the Democratic Alliance (DA), until September 2005, when he crossed the floor to the African National Congress (ANC). He is a former deputy chairperson of the DA.
