This is a list of members of the fourth North West Provincial Legislature as elected in the election of 22 April 2009. In that election, the African National Congress (ANC) maintained a comfortable majority of 25 seats in the 33-seat legislature, although this represented a loss of two seats since the third legislature. [1] Three seats apiece went to the Democratic Alliance and to a new entrant, the Congress of the People. The United Christian Democratic Party, formerly the official opposition, held two seats, while the Freedom Front Plus lost its representation altogether for the first time since the legislature was established in 1994.

When the legislature convened for the first time on 6 May 2009, the ANC's Maureen Modiselle was elected as the third Premier of the North West, succeeding Edna Molewa. [2] [3] She announced her Executive Council later the same day. [4] Nono Maloyi was elected as Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature. [2] However, neither served the full term in their offices: on 19 November 2010, Thandi Modise was elected as Premier after Modiselle was sacked by her party; [5] [6] and Supra Mahumapelo was elected to succeed Maloyi as Speaker on 3 April 2012. [7]

Sussana Rebecca Dantjie is a South African politician who has been serving as the Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature since May 2014. She was a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from May 2009 to May 2014. Dantjie is a member of the African National Congress.

Kaobitsa Abel Bushy Maape is a South African politician and anti-apartheid activist who has been the 7th Premier of the North West and a member of the North West Provincial Legislature since September 2021. Maape is a member of the African National Congress and a former Robben Island prisoner.

Motlalepula Ziphora Rosho is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, she was elected deputy speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature in 2010. In 2012 she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism in the North West Provincial Government. Rosho was discharged from the executive council in 2014 and then served in the provincial legislature as a committee chairperson until December 2018, when she returned to the executive as MEC for Local Government and Human Settlement. Rosho was appointed as MEC for Finance after the 2019 elections.

Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi is a South African politician who has been Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Human Settlement, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in the North West province since November 2022. In August 2022, he was elected Provincial Chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West, a position he formerly held from 2008 to 2009.

Jonas Sello Lehari is a South African politician who is currently serving as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Community Safety and Transport Management in the North West. He formerly served as MEC for Education and Sports Development from May 2016 to May 2019, and before that as Mayor of Moretele Local Municipality. In August 2022, he was additionally elected Provincial Treasurer of the North West branch of his political party, the African National Congress (ANC).

The Executive Council of the North West is the cabinet of the executive branch of the provincial government in the South African province of the North West. The Members of the Executive Council (MECs) are appointed from among the members of the North West Provincial Legislature by the Premier of the North West, an office held since September 2021 by Bushy Maape of the African National Congress (ANC).

Thamsanqa China Dodovu is a South African politician who is currently serving as a Delegate to the National Council of Provinces since May 2019. He was formerly the Mayor of Klerksdorp's Matlosana Local Municipality and served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Local Government and Traditional Affairs in the North West provincial government from May 2012 until June 2013. Dodovu is a member of the African National Congress and served as the party's Deputy Provincial Chairperson in the North West from 2011 to 2015.

Sebonta Desbo Mohono is a South African politician who is currently serving as the North West's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Agriculture and Rural Development since December 2018. Since 2009, she has served continuously in the North West Provincial Legislature and the Executive Council of the North West, including as MEC for Tourism from 2014 to 2018.

Mmaphefo Lucy "Wendy" Matsemela is a South African politician who was Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education in the North West from May 2019 to December 2022. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2009 and in the North West Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2022. While in the provincial legislature, she served almost continuously in the North West Executive Council, excepting two gaps from 2010 to 2013 and from 2016 to 2018. She resigned from the provincial legislature in December 2022 after Premier Bushy Maape fired her as an MEC.

Onewang Rebecca Kasienyane was a South African politician who served as the North West's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health and Social Development from May 2009 to November 2010. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West Provincial Legislature from May 2009 until her death in April 2013. Before that, she was a Member of the National Assembly from 1999 to 2009. She was also a prominent leader of the ANC Women's League in the North West.

Tebogo Constance Modise is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Council of Provinces since May 2019. She formerly served in the North West Executive Council between November 2010 and January 2016, when she resigned from the North West Provincial Legislature to become Mayor of Ratlou Local Municipality.

Louisa Lorato Mabe is a South African politician who served as the North West's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Finance from 2009 to 2012 and as MEC for Education from 2012 to 2013. Before joining the North West Provincial Legislature, she represented her party, the African National Congress (ANC), in the National Assembly from 2001 to 2009. Premier Thandi Modise fired her from the Executive Council in June 2013 after she was accused of involvement in procurement irregularities.

Ndleleni Moses Duma was a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West Provincial Legislature until his death in 2018. He also served in the National Assembly between 2009 and 2014. He was a Member of the North West Executive Council from 2004 to 2009 during the premiership of Edna Molewa; during the same period, he was convicted on theft charges in connection with his involvement in the Travelgate scandal during an earlier period of service in the national Parliament.

Oabetswe Johannes Tselapedi was a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West Provincial Legislature. He served as the second Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature from 1999 to 2004 and then as the North West's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education from 2004 until November 2010, when he was fired by newly elected Premier Thandi Modise. He also served as Deputy Provincial Chairperson of the ANC in the North West from 1996 to 1998. He was serving as a local councillor in Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality at the time of his death in 2021.

Boitumelo Shadrack Tshwene is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West Provincial Legislature. He also served in the North West Executive Council under Premiers Maureen Modiselle and Thandi Modise from May 2009 to May 2012.

Magome Albanos Masike is a South African politician and businessman who served as the North West's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health from November 2010 to December 2018, becoming the province's longest-serving Health MEC. He was fired from the Executive Council by Job Mokgoro and did not seek re-election to the North West Provincial Legislature in 2019. He is a member of the African National Congress (ANC).
