This is a list of the Monitor Latino number-one songs of 2008. Chart rankings are based on airplay across radio states in Mexico using radio tracking data. [1] [2] Charts are ranked from Monday to Sunday. Besides the general chart, Monitor Latino published "Pop", "Regional Mexican" and "Anglo" charts.

In 2008, nine songs reached number one on the General chart; all of these songs were entirely in Spanish. Eight acts achieved their first General number-one song in Mexico: Belanova, Juanes, Julieta Venegas, Ha*Ash, Reik, Luis Fonsi, La Oreja de Van Gogh and Banda El Recodo.

"El presente" by Julieta Venegas was the longest-running General number-one of the year, staying at the top position for eleven consecutive weeks, and "Cada Que..." by Belanova was best-performing song of the year.

However, due to the approach of Hurricane Wilma towards the Mexican Riviera Maya, the show was moved from October 20 to the 19th, but it was eventually postponed. The date was then moved again, this time to December 22.

The 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards took place on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas and were aired on Univision. The Brazilian Field awards were presented on the same day at the Ibirapuera Auditorium in São Paulo. The Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year was Gloria Estefan. Juanes was the night's big winner, winning 5 awards including Album of the Year. He now has 17 Latin Grammy awards which is more than any other recording artist. The show was watched by an average of 5.8 millions.

It was released on June 9, 2008, for the promotional and charity compilation, AT&T Team USA Soundtrack (2008) and lead single from seventh studio album Palabras del Silencio (2008). The music video of the song was released on YouTube in August 2008. It is one of the singer's biggest hit to date, breaking into the Billboard Hot 100.

Premio Lo Nuestro 2009 was held on Thursday March 26, 2009 at the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. It is broadcast live by Univision Network. The nominees were announced on Wednesday January 14, 2009 during a live televised morning show Despierta América! on Univision Network.

The 2009 Billboard Latin Music Awards was held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. It is produced and broadcast lived on Telemundo network. The nominees were announced on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 during a live televised morning show Levantate on Telemundo network.

The 7th Annual Premios Oye! took place at the Foro Monumental in Zacatecas, Zacatecas on November 26, 2008. The nominees were announced on September 29 with Vicente Fernández receiving 5 nominations, followed by Julieta Venegas and Juanes with 4 each one, with 3 each one, Amandititita and Ximena Sariñana. Miguel Bosé will be awarded by the Academia Nacional de la Música en México for his 31 years or career. The voting process is certified by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

"El presente" is a song by Julieta Venegas and is the first single from her album MTV Unplugged Julieta Venegas. Released on April 15, 2008. It is categorized as "A Worldwide Hit". The next song was placed in the top of Mexican radio, and Latin America and spent 11 weeks in the first place. The song was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Song of the Year in 2008.

Gerardo Horacio López von Linden, known professionally as Cachorro López, is an Argentine record producer, musician and songwriter. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he enrolled in various musical ensembles, including Zas and Los Abuelos de la Nada. López has worked with several artists producing their albums, including Caifanes, Stephanie Salas, Andrés Calamaro, Paulina Rubio, Diego Torres and Miranda!. López also was the executive producer of the tribute album for the English band Queen in 1997. His work has been recognized with two Latin Grammy Awards for Producer of the Year in 2006 and 2009, out of four consecutive nominations, and a Grammy Award for producing Limón y Sal by Julieta Venegas.

"Amárrame" is a song by Chilean and Mexican singer Mon Laferte featuring Colombian singer Juanes. It released on 10 February 2017 through Universal Music Group as part of Laferte's fifth studio album La Trenza. The song was written by Laferte, produced by herself and Manuel Soto.
