This is a list of the songs that reached number one in Mexico in 2009, according to Monitor Latino.

Monitor Latino's chart rankings are based on airplay across radio states in Mexico utilizing the Radio Tracking Data, LLC in real time. [1] [2] Charts are ranked from Monday to Sunday. Besides the General chart, Monitor Latino published "Pop", "Regional Mexican" and "Anglo" charts.

Chart history

General

In 2009, eight songs reached number one on the General chart, the lowest amount for a full year since the chart was founded in 2007; all of these songs were entirely in Spanish. Five acts achieved their first General number-one song in Mexico: La 5ª Estación, Paulina Rubio, Shakira, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón and David Bisbal.

"Loba" by Shakira was the longest-running General number-one of the year, staying at the top position for fourteen consecutive weeks, and "Te presumo" by Banda El Recodo was best-performing song of the year.

Due to popularity, the song was announced as the second single on July 20, 2009, released official worldwide on August 17, 2009 by Universal Music Latin Entertainment. "Ni Rosas Ni Juguetes" is a Latin pop song with ranchera and hip-hop influences. The song's lyrics discusses Rubio's decision to overcome a relationship and her empowerment.

The 8th Annual Premios Oye! took place at the Auditorio del Estado in Guanajuato, Guanajuato on November 24, 2009. The nominees were announced on September 29 with Alexander Acha and Banda el Recodo receiving 4 nominations, followed by Fanny Lu, Jenni Rivera, Vicente Fernández and Zoé with 3 each one. It will be celebrated in Guanajuato in order to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Mexican Independence Day. Rapahel will be awarded by the Academia Nacional de la Música en México for his 50 years or career. The voting process is certified by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Premio Lo Nuestro 2010 was held on Thursday February 18, 2010 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL was broadcast live on the Univision Network. The nominees were announced in December 2009 during a live televised morning show Despierta América! on Univision Network. This year marked the first time the awards are presented in High Definition.

The 2nd Annual Premios Juventud were broadcast by Univision on September 22, 2005.

The 6th Annual Premios Juventud were broadcast by Univision on July 16, 2009.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards recognize the most popular Latin music on the charts, featuring top solo performers and Latin groups in such categories as pop, rock, tropical, Mexican Regional music and Reggaeton.

The 8th annual Billboard Latin Music Awards which honor the most popular albums, songs, and performers in Latin music took place in Miami.
