Marianne Bachmeier was a West German vigilante. She shot and killed Klaus Grabowski, a man on trial for the rape and murder of her daughter Anna, in an act of vigilantism in the District Court of Lübeck in 1981, when she was 31. The case sparked extensive media coverage and public debate. As a result, Bachmeier was convicted of manslaughter and unlawful possession of a firearm. She was sentenced to six years and released on probation after serving three. Bachmeier moved abroad but returned to Germany after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She died at the age of 46 and was buried next to her seven-year-old daughter, Anna, in Burgtor Cemetery, Lübeck.
Luisa-Marie Neubauer is a German climate activist, politician and author. She is one of the main organizers of the school strike for climate movement in Germany, where it is commonly referred to under its alternative name Fridays for Future. She advocates a climate policy that complies with and surpasses the Paris Agreement and endorses de-growth. Neubauer is a member of Alliance 90/The Greens and the Green Youth.

The shooter then fled the scene and later committed suicide by shooting himself.
In Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, two police officers were fatally shot during a traffic stop on 31 January 2022. The Public prosecutor's office believes that the two arrested suspects were attempting to cover up their poaching.
