Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve (NYRE), billed since 2008 as Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, is a New Year's Eve television special broadcast by ABC. The special broadcasts primarily from New York City's Times Square and prominently features coverage of its annual ball drop event hosted by television personality Ryan Seacrest, along with live and pre-recorded musical performances by popular musicians from Times Square and Hollywood. Raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey, the Jonas Brothers moved to Little Falls, New Jersey, in 2005, where they wrote their first record that made its Hollywood Records release. Idol Gives Back was the name of a charitable campaign that spanned two episodes of American Idol during its sixth season. A second Idol Gives Back concert and fundraiser occurred on April 9, 2008, during the seventh season of the show. Idol Gives Back was not held in 2009 due to the economic crisis and recession. The executive producer released a statement saying that it was not the time to be asking for money from the American public. However, the fundraiser returned on April 21, 2010, during the top 7 results show of season 9. It did not return in future seasons.

The song was written by Jonas and James Fauntleroy and produced by Rob Knox. The song garnered mixed reception from music critics. An official remix of the track features a verse from American rapper Lil Wayne and slightly altered production; it received a Parental Advisory sticker for this because of the explicit lyrics Lil Wayne raps, but the clean version was made the official version. The Lil Wayne remix was also featured in May 2019, on the tracklist of Jonas Brothers reunion documentary, Chasing Happiness. Lil Wayne's explicit lyrics are said there, but however, it does not have an explicit content tag and does not credit Lil Wayne's feature as well.

The 2013 Teen Choice Awards ceremony was held on August 11, 2013, at the Gibson Amphitheatre, Universal City, California. This was the last Teen Choice Award ceremony to take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre due to the venue closing down in September 2013, to make room for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 won eight of its nine nominations, Pretty Little Liars won all of its seven nominations, pushing the series' total to eighteen Teen Choice Awards, Pitch Perfect won four of its eleven, Glee won four and Bruno Mars won two of their eight, respectively, Taylor Swift won two of her seven, and Demi Lovato won four of her six, One Direction won all six of their nominations, remaining undefeated at the Teen Choice Awards, Selena Gomez won three of her six nominations and Miley Cyrus won three of her six nominations. Miley Cyrus took home the "Candie's Fashion Trendsetter" award.

Live is the third live album by Jonas Brothers and their last release before their hiatus. It was released on November 26, 2013, in the US exclusively on their website. The album was stylized with an uppercase "V" for the number five in the Roman numeral, a reference to the original cancelled fifth studio album that was due for release in late 2013. It was recorded between July 23 and August 16, 2013, at Mohegan Sun Arena and Gibson Amphitheatre during their final tour before the band's breakup.
