Lonestar Shootout (2022) was a two-night [lower-alpha 1] professional wrestling event promoted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). It took place at the Farimont Hotel in Dallas, Texas, on April 1, 2022 and aired on May 7. The event was promoted as part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America's weekly TV show, NJPW Strong . [2]
Lonestar Shootout featured five professional wrestling matches on each show that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portray villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in the scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. [3]
The event started with the singles confrontation between Rocky Romero and Ren Narita, solded with the victory of the latter. Next up, Clark Connors, Karl Fredericks, Mascara Dorada and Yuya Uemura outmatched David Finlay, Juice Robinson, Daniel Garcia and Kevin Knight in eight-man tag team action. In the third bout, Minoru Suzuki defeated Killer Kross in singles competition. In the semi main event, Bullet Club leader Jay White picked up a victory over Mike Bailey in one of his open challenge series of matches. In the main event, Tomohiro Ishii defeated Chris Dickinson in singles competition. [4] [5] [6] [7]

Yuji Nagata is a Japanese professional wrestler, and former mixed martial artist and amateur wrestler currently signed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). Considered one of the greatest Japanese wrestlers of all time, he is the fifth longest-reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion with a reign of 392 days, and formerly held the record for most successful title defenses with 10, until Hiroshi Tanahashi broke the record at Wrestle Kingdom VI. He is the only wrestler to have won Japanese professional wrestling's three biggest singles tournaments; New Japan Pro-Wrestling's G1 Climax, All Japan Pro Wrestling's Champion Carnival and Pro Wrestling Noah's Global League. In addition, he is the only man to have held all four major heavyweight championships in Japanese professional wrestling, the IWGP, World, GHC and Triple Crown heavyweight championships, making him the only "Grand Slam" champion.
Maunakea Mossman is an American semi-retired professional wrestler, better known under his stage name Taiyō Kea (太陽ケア). Best known for his work in All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), he is the only wrestler in AJPW's history to have held the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship, the World Tag Team Championship and the World Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Minoru Suzuki is a Japanese professional wrestler and former mixed martial artist, currently working for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) as a freelancer. In NJPW, he has held the IWGP Intercontinental Championship as well as twice holding the NEVER Openweight Championship.
Naomichi Marufuji is a Japanese professional wrestler currently signed to Pro Wrestling Noah. Marufuji is a four-time GHC Heavyweight Champion, as well as the first of two men to win Junior Heavyweight Championships in all three major Japanese promotions. In 2009, he was appointed to the position of Vice President of Pro Wrestling Noah, and has retained the position since, being reappointed in September 2011. He also makes occasional appearances in other professional wrestling promotions including New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), Ring of Honor (ROH), and Impact Wrestling.

Luke James Uggles Eatwell, known by his ring name Zack Sabre Jr. and its abbreviated form ZSJ, is an English professional wrestler. He is currently signed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he is the leader of the group The Mighty Don't Kneel and was the inaugural NJPW World Television Champion. He also makes sporadic appearances for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and its sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH).
Yujiro Kushida is a Japanese professional wrestler and former mixed martial artist, better known by his mononymous ring name Kushida. He is currently signed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).
Steven Owens, better known by the ring name Chase Owens is an American professional wrestler currently signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he is a member of Bullet Club. He is one-half of the current IWGP Tag Team Champion with Kenta and also won with Bad Luck Fale. Owens has also won the KOPW trophy.
Kevin Kesar is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the SmackDown brand under his ring name Karrion Kross, alongside his real life wife Scarlett and is the leader of The Final Testament.
Ren Narita is a Japanese professional wrestler who currently signed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he is a member of Bullet Club and its sub-group House of Torture. He is a former NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion with Minoru Suzuki and El Desperado.
Jermaine Haley is an Australian professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand under the ring name Bronson Reed. He is a former NXT North American Champion.
Kyle Fletcher is an Australian professional wrestler. He is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and its sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH), where he is the current ROH World Television Champion in his first reign, and a former one-time ROH World Tag Team Champion. The event was promoted as part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America's weekly TV show, NJPW Strong. It was the fifth event held under the Fighting Spirit Unleashed branch.
