NJPW Resurgence is a professional wrestling event held annually by New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). Since its inception in 2021, it has been held annually in Southern California.

History

In October 2019, NJPW announced their expansion into the United States with their new American division, New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America (NJoA). [1] On July 31, 2020, NJPW announced a new weekly series titled NJPW Strong ; the series would be produced by NJoA. [2] On January 30, 2023, NJPW announced that all of the promotion's future American events would be branded under the "Strong" name. Beginning with Battle in the Valley on February 18, the NJoA PPVs began airing as NJPW Strong Live; these PPV events will later air on NJPW World as part of the NJPW Strong on Demand series. [3] On March 9, 2023, NJPW announced that Resurgence will take place on May 22, 2023, at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California, establishing Resurgence as an annual event. [4] On May 5, 2024, NJPW announced that a third Resurgence event will take place on May 11, 2024, at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. [5]

From 2013 to 2014, the event also aired outside Japan as an internet pay-per-view (iPPV). Since 2015, the event has aired worldwide on NJPW's internet streaming site, NJPW World. The event is held in February, the month following NJPW's biggest annual event, the January 4 Dome Show, usually the culmination point of major storylines. As the name of the event suggests, it marks the beginning of a new year for the promotion.

Dominion is an annual professional wrestling event promoted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). The event has been held annually since 2009 as a pay-per-view (PPV). From 2013 to 2014, the event also aired outside Japan as an Internet pay-per-view (iPPV). Since 2015, the event has aired worldwide on NJPW's Internet streaming site, NJPW World. Dominion is the first major event following the Best of the Super Juniors tournament and usually includes a match, where the tournament winner challenges for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, assuming the champion has not won the tournament. In recent years, Dominion has developed into one of NJPW's showcase events and it is considered the biggest event since the January 4 Dome Show. The first six Dominions took place in June. In 2015, the event was moved to July, but was moved back to June the following year. Originally the event was held at Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium until 2014; since 2015, the event has been held at Osaka-jō Hall. The 2020 event was scheduled to be held on June 14 but was postponed to July 12 to allow the rescheduled New Japan Cup to take place, this is the first time since 2015 that Dominion took place in July.

Global Wars (2016) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event co-produced by the American Ring of Honor (ROH) and Japanese New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promotions. The event took place on May 8, 2016, at the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago Ridge, Illinois. The 2016 Global Wars was the third annual Global Wars event co-produced by ROH and NJPW, and the first to take place outside of Toronto, Canada.

The Strong Women's Championship is a women's professional wrestling world championship owned by the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) promotion. The creation of the championship was announced by NJPW on April 27, 2023. The title is exclusively featured on NJPW's American internet television program NJPW Strong Live, which features a distinct roster of American and other foreign wrestlers. The inaugural champion was Willow Nightingale, who defeated Mercedes Moné in a tournament final at Resurgence to win the championship. The current champion is Moné, who defeated Stephanie Vaquer in a Winner Takes All match in which Moné's AEW TBS Championship was also on the line at Forbidden Door.
