Lost in Light Rotation is the sixth studio album from indie pop band Tullycraft. After a three-year hiatus, the album was the band's first since Every Scene Needs a Center in 2007.

Indie pop is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. In later years, the definition of indie pop has bifurcated to also mean bands from unrelated DIY scenes/movements with pop leanings. Subgenres include chamber pop and twee pop.

Tullycraft

Tullycraft is an American indie pop band from Seattle, Washington, United States, who formed in 1995. They have been associated with the genre of twee pop; in fact, they are considered to be one of the true pioneers of the American twee pop movement. Every Scene Needs a Center 2007 studio album by Tullycraft

Every Scene Needs a Center is the fifth studio album from the indiepop band Tullycraft. Arguably, the band’s most ambitious album, Every Scene Needs A Center ranges from punky bursts to mid-tempo near-ballads. The band spent over a year working on the mini-epic album, splitting time between a professional recording studio and their own studio, recording entirely on analog tape. The album reached #29 on the CMJ Top 200 chart in 2007.

All five band members (Tollefson, Fell, Munford, Mears and Hale) reunited for the album, and the band began the recording process during the summer of 2012. Tracking began with engineer Pete Remine at Dubtrain studio in Seattle. Producer Phil Ek, whose credits include The Shins' Chutes Too Narrow , Band Of Horses' Everything All the Time and five Built to Spill albums, was recruited to mix the record. Ek's influence was apparent as the album had a slightly more polished, less lo-fi sound than past releases. [1]

Phil Ek is an American record producer, engineer and mixer. Ek began his career in Seattle, Washington, in the early 1990s recording live sound in clubs. He then moved into studio recording, recording small projects and demos for local bands. Around this time, Ek was frequently working with influential producer Jack Endino. Producing Built to Spill's second album, There's Nothing Wrong with Love, proved to be Ek's mainstream breakthrough, the album has since ranked in the Top Ten of Spin Magazine's top indie records of all time. Phil Ek has worked with such indie rock bands as Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Modest Mouse, The Shins, Built to Spill, 764-HERO, Big Business and Mudhoney.

Chutes Too Narrow 2003 studio album by The Shins

Chutes Too Narrow is the second studio album by American rock band The Shins. Produced by Phil Ek and the band themselves, the album was released on October 21, 2003, through Sub Pop. The album title comes from a lyric in the song "Young Pilgrims". The album was very well received by critics, garnering an overall score of 88/100 on Metacritic. As of August 2008 according to Nielsen SoundScan, they have sold over 393,000 copies to date.

The album was co-released on April 23, 2013, by Magic Marker Records in the US and Fortuna Pop! in the UK.

Bailey Park (Tullycraft song) 1995 single by Tullycraft

“Bailey Park” has been called quintessential cuddlecore; where twee meets punk head on. Tullycraft recorded the song with producer Pat Maley in the Capitol Theater at Yoyo Studios in Olympia, Washington. The birds heard at the beginning of the track are not a sample, Maley hung a second microphone out of a second floor theatre window while Tollefson was recording his vocals. The birds heard on the track are downtown Olympia birds recorded at the same time as the vocals. Guitarist Gary Miklusek once said: “'Bailey Park' ranks as a top song for me. Live it was a blast to play and almost a guaranteed string-breaker… perhaps my only sore memories of Tullycraft.”

The Railway Prince Hotel 2019 studio album by Tullycraft

The Railway Prince Hotel is the seventh studio album by American band Tullycraft, released by Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records in February 2019. The album had a modestly different sound than the band's previous releases, somewhat due to the fact that long-time drummer Jeff Fell, did not make an appearance on the album, but also because of the new approach the members of the band took to the recording process. Much of the album was improvised during the recording sessions. This was an untried approach for Tullycraft. Equipped with lyrics and vocal melodies the band composed many of the new songs from the ground up in the studio.
