Piney Grove at Southall's Plantation is a property listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Holdcroft, Charles City County, Virginia. The scale and character of the collection of domestic architecture at this site recalls the vernacular architectural traditions of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries along the James River.
The Mountain Parkway Byway and Mountain Parkway Backway are two routes in northern Webster County, West Virginia. The Byway is a state-designated scenic byway which follows West Virginia Route 20 for 9.8 miles (15.8 km), traversing the headwaters of several mountain streams including the Right Fork Little Kanawha River, Jerry Run, and the Left and Laurel Forks of Holly River. The Backway explores backroads in the same area, is 32 miles (51 km) long, and follows stretches of the Right Fork Little Kanawha River and Left Fork Holly River for portions of its route.
Carter Coal Company Store, also known as Consolidation Coal Company Store, is a historic company store building located at Caretta, McDowell County, West Virginia. It was built about 1912 by the Carter Coal Company, and is a one-story brick commercial building on a stone foundation. It has a gable roof. The building was originally "T"-shaped, but wood frame additions built in 1922, spread the plan to an "L.". It ceased operating as a post office in August 2005.

Old Stone House, also known as the Webster-Martin-Ireland House, is a historic inn and boarding house, located at Pennsboro, Ritchie County, West Virginia. The main section was built about 1810, and is a 2 1⁄2-story stone structure, five bays wide and two bays deep, with a gable roof. Attached to it is a two-story frame addition with a hipped roof. It features a one-story porch across the front facade. It is open by the Ritchie County Historical Society as a historic house and local history museum.
Mollohan Mill is a historic grist mill located near Replete, Webster County, West Virginia. It was built in 1894, and is a two-story frame gable-roofed building on a cut stone foundation. It is constructed of hewn post and beam timber construction and measures 38 feet long and 23 feet wide. The Mollohan Mill operated from 1894 until 1953.

Halfway House, also known as the Tyree Tavern, is a historic inn and tavern located at Ansted, Fayette County, West Virginia. It is a two-story, log and frame building with a gable roof measuring 50 feet long and 20 feet deep. The original log section was built prior to 1810. It was expanded to its present configuration about 1827. It served as a stage coach stop on the James River and Kanawha Turnpike. Notable guests included Daniel Webster, Henry Clay, and John Breckenridge. It also was headquarters of the Chicago Gray Dragoons during the American Civil War. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
Prince Brothers General Store, also known as the Berry Store or simply Prince Store, is a historic general store located at Prince, Fayette County, West Virginia. It was built about 1900, and is a two-story frame commercial building. It is the last surviving building of the New River coal field commercial businesses dated to the turn of the 20th century. It is owned by the National Park Service as part of the New River Gorge National River.
Whipple Company Store is a historic company store located in Whipple, Fayette County, West Virginia, USA. It was built about 1900, and is a two-story, frame octagon building. It sits on a coursed stone faced foundation and features a prominent arched opening at the main entrance. As a company store, it remained in operation until August 1957, when the New River Company mine closed. However, it remained occupied by retail activities until the 1980s.
Lost River General Store, also known as Lost River Store House, is a historic general store located on the grounds of The Inn at Lost River at Lost River, Hardy County, West Virginia. It was built in 1898, and is a two-story, front gable, wood frame building with a one-story front porch. The front section measures approximately 20 feet by 40 feet. The store building was renovated in the 1990s. From the early 1900s (decade) until 1979, the building also housed the Lost River Post Office. Also on the property is an outhouse that may have been built in the 1930s by a Works Progress Administration (WPA) crew.
Upper Glady School is a historic one-room school building located near Crawford, Lewis County, West Virginia. It was built about 1900, and is a frame building measuring 28 feet by 24 feet and painted white. Also on the property is a coal house used to store coal for fuel. The school operated until 1965.
Pocahontas Fuel Company Store, also known as Norfolk Coal & Coke Company Store and Henderson Market, was a historic company store building located at Maybeury, McDowell County, West Virginia. It was built before 1903, and was a one- to two-story wood frame building on a stone foundation. It featured a pyramidal roof in one corner.

Most of the commercial buildings are two story, frame and masonry buildings, dating from about 1900 to 1950. Notable buildings include the St. Paul's Methodist Protestant Church (1923), St. Philomena's Roman Catholic Church, Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church (1915), Rowlesburg School, Waybright House, Weaver House, Nassif Home and Store building, Rowlesburg Area Historical Society/IOOF building (1875), and Adams and Moore Store building (1907).
Nance-Major House and Store is a historic home and country store located across from the Charles City County Courthouse at Charles City, Charles City County, Virginia. The Nance-Major Store was built about 1872, and is a two-story, three-bay, gable-front frame building, supported by a brick pier foundation. The Nance-Major House was built about 1869, and is an "L"-shaped, 2 1/2-half story, post-and-beam-frame dwelling covered with painted horizontal weatherboard. It has a steeply-pitched, front-gabled roof and features a two-story, three-bay, full-width porch. Also located on the property are a contributing smokehouse, a grain barn, a tool shed, and a garage. The store was in operation from 1874 until 1963.
Harris–Poindexter House and Store is a historic home, store, and farm complex located at Mineral, Louisa County, Virginia. The house was built about 1837, and is a two-story, three bay, frame farmhouse in the Greek Revival style. The store was built about 1865, and is one-story frame building. Also on the property are a contributing smokehouse, tenant house, and a variety of early- to mid-20th century farm related outbuildings, and a late-19th century grist mill.
French's Tavern, also known as Swan's Creek Plantation, Indian Camp, Harris's Store, and The Coleman Place, is a historic house and tavern located near Ballsville, Powhatan County, Virginia. The two-story, frame building complex is in five distinct sections, with the earliest dated to about 1730. The sections consist of the main block, the wing, the annex, the hyphen and galleries. It was built as the manor home for a large plantation, and operated as an ordinary in the first half of the 19th century.
Rogers' Store, also known as Gwaltney's Store, is a historic general store located at Carsley near Surry, Surry County, Virginia. It was built about 1894, and is a two-story, three bay by three bay, Late Victorian frame building with a front gable roof. It features a full-width front porch supported by turned posts and a standing seam metal shed roof. Located directly behind the Rogers' Store is the Gwaltney's Store building. It was built in 1827, and is a 1 1/2-story, two room, gable front frame building. With the construction of the new store in 1894, the old store was converted to storage space. The store closed in 1952.

Located in the district are the separately listed Ritchie County Courthouse and the Harrisville Grade School.
