Luke Ramsay (born 31 January 1988) is a Canadian sailor, who specialized in two-person dinghy (470) and mixed multihull (Nacra 17) classes. [1] [2] He represented Canada, along with his partner and Olympic veteran Mike Leigh, at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and has also been training throughout his sailing career for the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club under his personal coach Ian Andrews. [1] [3] As of June 2015, Ramsay is ranked among the top 100 sailors in the world for the two-person dinghy class, and sixteenth for the mixed multihull class.
Ramsay qualified as a crew member for the Canadian squad in the men's 470 class at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London by having achieved a berth and finishing twenty-second from the World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. [4] Sailing with skipper Leigh in the opening series, the Canadian duo posted a grade of 179 net points to earn a twenty-fifth-place finish in a fleet of twenty-seven boats. [5] [6]
Since his Olympic debut at London 2012, Ramsay has teamed up with windsurfer and three-time Olympian Nikola Girke in the mixed multihull class Nacra 17. They competed together for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, scoring 15th (of 20 competitors). [6] [7]
Roland Gäbler is a German sailor and member in the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein as well as in the Kieler Yacht-Club. He competed in five Olympic Games.
The Nacra 17 is a performance catamaran used for sailing. It was designed in 2011, went into production in 2012 and has been the focus of multihull sailing at the Olympic Games since its conception.
Cecilia Carranza Saroli is an Argentine Olympic sailor. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in the Women's Laser Radial class, finishing in the 21st place. At the 2008 Summer Olympics she finished 8th in the same event. Cecilia won the gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games. At the 2016 Summer Olympics she won the gold medal in the category Nacra 17 alongside fellow sailor Santiago Lange.
Tara Pacheco van Rijnsoever is a Spanish sports sailor. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in the Women's 470 class with Berta Betanzos. At the 2016 Olympics, she and Fernando Echavarri competed in the Nacra 17 class.
Nikola Girke is a Canadian sailor and a five-time Olympian. She is amongst only a few elite athletes who have made the transition from one sport to another and has achieved a top 10 in the world across three different sport disciplines. She finished 13th at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the 470, then switched to RSX windsurfing and placed 17th at the 2008 Summer Olympics. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she finished 10th in the RS:X. Girke was named to Canada's 2016 Olympic team to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the Nacra 17 with Luke Ramsay. The duo placed 15th. Girke also competed in windsurfing at both the 2011 Pan American Games and the 2015 Pan American Games placing 4th and 6th respectively. Nikola holds a degree from UBC in Human Kinetics and is a Certified Executive and Emotional Intelligence coach.
Nahid Pachai Gäbler is a Tornado World and European Champion and multiple mixed Tornado World and European Champion sailor. Her mother correspondent and interpreter Jette Pachai was from Fredericia, Denmark and her father Dr. Modjtaba Pachai from Tehran, Iran, the family moved back to Denmark in 1965.
Diego González Parro is a Chilean sailor, who specialized in two-person dinghy (470) class. He represented Chile, along with his partner Benjamín Grez, at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and has also been training throughout most of his sporting career for Team VTR Yacht Club in his native Santiago, under his personal coach Cristian Noe. As of June 2015, Gonzalez is ranked among the top 400 sailors in the world for the two-person dinghy class by the International Sailing Federation.
Michael Leigh is a Canadian sailor, who specialized in one-person (Laser) and two-person dinghy (470) classes. Representing Canada in two editions of the Olympic Games, he finished ninth in the Laser class at Beijing 2008, and then twenty-fifth in the 470 class at London 2012 with his partner Luke Ramsay. Leigh has also been training throughout his sailing career for the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club under his Australian-born personal coach Joshua Chant.
Samuel Albrecht is a Brazilian sailor who specializes in both two-person dinghy (470) and mixed multihull classes. He has been selected to compete for the Brazilian sailing team at the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing seventeenth along with his partner Fabio Pillar in the 470 regatta. After missing out on the Olympic selection in 2012, Albrecht decided to turn his attention and eventually teamed up with Olympic bronze medalist Isabel Swan on the newly instated Nacra 17 catamaran for a chance to compete at his possible second Games in Rio de Janeiro. As of April 2015, Albrecht is ranked forty-fourth in the world for the mixed multihull class by the International Sailing Federation.
Jacob Saunders is a Canadian sailor. Along with his partner Graeme Saunders, he competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 470 event, finishing in 22nd place. He represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics together with Oliver Bone of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, finishing in 17th place in the men's 470 event. He started his early training and career with the Chester Yacht Club, competing as Jacob Chaplin-Saunders.
Nicola Groves is a British competitive sailor. She competed for Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Billy Besson is a French competitive sailor.
Thomas Zajac is an Austrian competitive sailor.
Paul Kohlhoff is a German sailor. He represented Germany, along with partner Carolina Werner, in the Nacra 17 class at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and at the 2020 Summer Olympics, with Alica Stuhlemmer, winning the bronze medal.
Francesco Marcolini is an Italian former sailor, who specialized in the multihull (Tornado) class. Together with his partner Edoardo Bianchi, he was named one of the country's top sailors in the mixed multihull catamaran for two consecutive Olympic editions, finishing each in the top ten, respectively. A member of Yacht Club Italiano in his native Genoa, Marcolini trained most of his competitive sailing career under the tutelage of his personal coach and Barcelona 1992 Olympian Angelo Glisoni.

Johannes Sebastian Polgar is a German sailor, who specialized in the multihull (Tornado) and keelboat Star) classes. Together with his partner Florian Spalteholz, he was named one of the country's top sailors in the mixed multihull catamaran for the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing in eighth place. After the Games, Polgar decided to move into the Star class and eventually shared a gold-medal victory with his partner Markus Koy at the 2010 Europeans in Viareggio, Italy. A member of North German Regatta Club, Polgar trained most of his competitive sailing career under the tutelage of his Norwegian-born personal coach Rigo de Nijs.
Anna Burnet is an Olympic Silver Medallist and two time World champion in sailings Mixed multihull Olympic discipline. She lives in Scotland. In 2020 she became world champion in the Nacra 17 World Championship with partner John Gimson. They were selected for the British Olympic team and gained silver medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The pair continued their good run to win the 2021 World and European Championships.
John Gimson is an Olympic Silver Medallist and two time World champion in sailings Mixed multihull Olympic discipline. He lives in Congleton. In 2020 he became world champion in the Nacra 17 World Championship with partner Anna Burnet. They were selected for the British Olympic team and gained silver medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Emil Roland Hugo Järudd is a Swedish sailor. He qualified to represent Sweden in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics alongside Cecilia Jonsson, competing at the Mixed Multihull - Nacra 17 Foiling event, where he ranked 14th.
