Luke Smith (born 30 August 1990 in Jakarta, Indonesia) is an Australian professional volleyballer. [1]

Contents

Smith was born in Jakarta to an Indonesian mother and English father, before moving to Albany, Western Australia, where he spent much of his early life. His family moved to Norway, before settling in the suburb of Rossmoyne near Perth. [1]

He started playing volleyball in grade 10 at Aquinas College in Salter Point. He since spent time on a scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, and spent two years playing semi-professionally for Linkoping Volleyball Club in Linkoping, Sweden. Whilst at the AIS he played in the 2008 Youth and 2010 Junior Asian Championships. [2]

He made his debut for the Australian national volleyball team in 2011 against Thailand at the age of 20. He represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. [2]

From January 2019, he signed a contract with Polish club Cuprum Lubin.

Nathan Roberts is an Australian volleyball player. He attended Brighton Secondary School from 1999 to 2003 and was a member of the school's Special Interest Volleyball program. He has played 395 matches for the Australian National Team including the 2006, 2010 & 2014 World Championships. He was a gold medalist at the 2007 Asian Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia and was the Best Spiker at the 2011 Asian Championships in Tehran, Iran. Nathan has also won the Australian Volleyball League Championship in 2003, Danish Volleyball League Championship in 2006, The Slovenian Cup and League Championships in 2015, and the French Pro B Championship. He has also competed for Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics. After returning to Australia Nathan has competed in the Australian Men's Volleyball League twice, obtaining the Silver Medal both times and being names in the team of the tournament in 2023. Nathan said in an interview in 2022 that the highlight of his career was undoubtedly securing back to back championships with the NOB volleyball club at Victoria's Seaside Tournament in 2021 and 2022. The NOBs also prevailed in the 2024 tournament with an undefeated run. Now in semi-retirement, Nathan spends his time playing with South Adelaide Volleyball Club, and the NOBs. His jump having reduced significantly, he spends the majority of his time foam rolling to allow his body to function to a level where he can continue to play.

Christopher McHugh is a male beach volleyball player from Australia. He represented Australia at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, both with teammate Damien Schumann, winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. Unfortunately, competing at the 2020 Olympics, the pair were knocked out in the group stage after finishing at the bottom of their pool.
