Lya W. Stern (born 1950) is a violinist, recording artist and violin teacher. Born Lya Weiss to a Jewish family in Cluj, Romania, Stern moved to the United States as a teenager. She is married to Larry Stern and has two children.
Stern completed post graduate studies in the violin at University of Southern California Thornton School of Music [ citation needed ], and has a Master's Degree with Honors, Violin Performance from the University [1] University of Southern California and a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance [2] from the Manhattan School of Music.
Stern was a resident, artist and teacher in New York City and Los Angeles.[ citation needed ] She currently lives in Washington, D.C. where she chairs the ASTA Certificate Advancement Program.

Ellen Taaffe Zwilich is an American composer, the first female composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music. Her early works are marked by atonal exploration, but by the late 1980s, she had shifted to a postmodernist, neoromantic style. She has been called "one of America's most frequently played and genuinely popular living composers." She was a 1994 inductee into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame. Zwilich has served as the Francis Eppes Distinguished Professor at Florida State University.
Itzhak Perlman is an Israeli-American violinist, conductor, and music teacher. Perlman has performed worldwide, and throughout the United States, in venues that have included a State Dinner at the White House honoring Queen Elizabeth II, and at President Barack Obama's inauguration. He has conducted the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Westchester Philharmonic. In 2015, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has received 16 Grammy Awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and four Emmy Awards.
Appalachian Spring is a musical composition by Aaron Copland that was premiered in 1944 and has achieved widespread and enduring popularity as an orchestral suite. The music, scored for a thirteen-member chamber orchestra, was created upon commission of the choreographer and dancer Martha Graham with funds from the Coolidge Foundation. It was premiered on Monday, October 30, 1944, at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., with Martha Graham dancing the lead role. The set was designed by the American sculptor Isamu Noguchi. Copland was awarded the 1945 Pulitzer Prize for Music for his achievement.
