Magu District [1] is one of the seven districts of the Mwanza Region of Tanzania, East Africa. Its administrative centre is the town of Magu on the Simiyu River. It is bordered to the north by Lake Victoria and Busega District, to the east by Bariadi District, to the south by Itilima District, Maswa District, Kwimba District and Misungwi District, and to the west by the city of Mwanza, which consists of Nyamagana District and Ilemela District.
As of 2022, the population of Magu was 421,119. [2] [3] This is not much more than the district's population in 2002, when the number was 416,113, [4] due to the fact that the district was split up in 2012 and about half of the original Magu district is now part of the new Busega District, Simiyu Region. [5]

The Sukuma are a Bantu ethnic group from the southeastern African Great Lakes region. They are the largest ethnic group in Tanzania, with an estimated 10 million members or 16 percent of the country's total population. Sukuma means "north" and refers to "people of the north." The Sukuma refer to themselves as Basukuma (plural) and Nsukuma (singular).
Mwanza City, also known as Rock City to the residents, is a port city and capital of Mwanza Region on the southern shore of Lake Victoria in north-western Tanzania. With an urban population of 1,311,000 in 2023, it is Tanzania's second largest city, after Dar es Salaam. It is also the second largest city in the Lake Victoria basin after Kampala, Uganda and ahead of Kisumu, Kenya at least in population size. Within the East African community, Mwanza city is the fifth largest city after Dar, Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kampala. It is slightly ahead of Kigali, Kisumu, and Bujumbura in the population of city proper limits. Mwanza city is also the capital city of Mwanza Region, and is administratively divided into two municipal districts within that Region - Ilemela and Nyamagana.
Bunda is one of the seven districts of Mara Region in the United Republic of Tanzania, East Africa. It is bordered to the north by the Musoma Rural District and Butiama District, to the east by Serengeti District, to the south by Bariadi District and Busega District, and to the west by Lake Victoria. The district administration town is also called Bunda, located on the north-south trans-national all tarmac highway from Kenya to Zambia via Tarime and the lakeside municipalities of Musoma, Mwanza, and thereon to Mbeya in southern Tanzania. The district has four divisions: Kenkombyo, Nansimo, Serengeti and Chamuriho.

Misungwi District is one of the seven districts of the Mwanza Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by Nyamagana District and Magu District, to the east by Kwimba District, to the south by Shinyanga Rural District and to the west by Nyang'hwale District and Lake Victoria. Misungwi is often spelled with an extra 's' to make it Missungwi. The administrative centre is in the town of Misungwi.
Maswa District is one of the five districts of the Simiyu Region of Tanzania Inhabited by Sukuma. It is bordered to the north by Magu District and Itilima District, to the east by the Meatu District, to the south by the Kishapu District, and to the west by the Kwimba District. Its administrative centre is the town of Maswa.
Meatu District is one of the five districts of the Simiyu Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by the Itilima District, to the west by the Maswa District and Shinyanga Region to the east by the Arusha Region, to the southeast by the Manyara Region and to the south by the Singida Region. Its district capital is the town of Mwanhuzi.
Ilemela District is one of the seven districts of the Mwanza Region of Tanzania with a postcode number 33200. It is bordered to the north and west by Lake Victoria, to the east by Magu District, and to the south by Nyamagana District. Part of the region's capital, the town of Mwanza, is within Ilemela District. The district commission's office is located in Buswelu area of Mwanza town.
Biharamulo District is one of the eight districts of the Kagera Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by Karagwe District and Muleba District, to the east and south by Geita Region, to the west by Ngara District, and to the southwest by the Kigoma Region. Its administrative seat is Biharamulo town. Biharamulo Game Reserve is located within the borders of the district.
Tarime District is one of the seven districts of the Mara Region of Tanzania, East Africa. It was previously known as the "North Mara District". Its district capital is Tarime town. It is bordered from the north to east by the Kenyan districts of Migori, Trans Mara and Kuria East and West Districts, and to the east by the Maasai Mara game reserve. To the south it is bordered across the Mara River by the Serengeti and Butiama districts, and to the west by Rorya District.

Magu is a town in Mwanza Region of Tanzania, East Africa. It is the administrative seat of Magu District, one of the seven districts of Mwanza Region. The distance from Magu to Mwanza town is around 60 kilometres. According to the national census of 2012, the population of Magu – Magu Mjini in Swahili – was 23,822.

Itilima District is one of the five districts of Simiyu Region of Tanzania, East Africa. Its district capital is Lagangabilili. It is bordered to the north by Bariadi District, to the east by Ngorongoro District, to the south by Maswa District and Meatu District, and to the west by Magu District.
Kisesa is an administrative ward in the Magu District of the Mwanza Region of Tanzania. In 2016 the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics report there were 9,889 people in the ward, from 30,486 in 2012.
