Mahboob College High School is a college located in Secunderabad a twin city of Hyderabad, India.

History

The school was established in 1862 by Somasundaram Mudaliar and was called - Anglo Vernacular School. Sixth Nizam, Mir Mahbub Ali Khan made generous contribution. The school was renamed Mahbub College to commemorate Hyderabad Nizam’s accession to throne. The school was visited by Swami Vivekananda in February 1893 before departing to USA for attending the Parliament of Religions [1] [2] . On 13 February 1893 Swami Vivekananda delivered a lecture "My Mission to the West"" [3]

Nizam of Hyderabad was the title of the ruler of Hyderabad State. In addition to being the Mughal Viceroy (Naib) of the Deccan, Asaf Jah I was also the premier courtier of the Mughal Empire until 1724, when he established the independent monarchy of Hyderabad and adopted the title "Nizam of Hyderabad".

The Great Musi Flood was a devastating flood that occurred on 28 September 1908 in Hyderabad on the banks of the Musi River. The city of Hyderabad was the capital of the Hyderabad State, ruled by the Nizam, Mir Mahbub Ali Khan.

"Religion not the crying need of India" was a lecture delivered by Indian Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda on 20 September 1893 at the Parliament of the World's Religions, Chicago. In the lecture, Vivekananda criticized Christian missionaries for ignoring the needs of starving people in India. He said that Indians did not need any religious education, as there was already a surfeit of religion in the East. Instead, Vivekananda pushed for humanitarian support for the hungry.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Architecture of Hyderabad</span>

A distinct Indo-Islamic architecture style with local contribution is reflected in the historical buildings of Hyderabad, making it the first and "Best Heritage City of India" as of March 2012. The city houses many famous historical sites constructed during Qutb Shahi and Asaf Jahi period, including various mosques and palaces.
