Manita Shrestha Pradhan (born 1 June 1999) is a Nepalese judoka. [1]

Early life

Born in Panchthar, she stayed as a child at Prisoners Aid Mission in Kathmandu. She started judo in 2009. [2] [3] She attended Bal Bikas Secondary School in Ranibari, Kathmandu. [4]

Career

She won a silver medal in the 57kg category at the 2016 South Asian Games in Shillong, India. In 2017, she won a bronze medal in the women’s below-57kg weight category in the 11th Asian Cadet and 18th Juniors Asian Judo Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. [5] [6]

She became the first Nepali woman judoka to win a bout at the Asian Judo Championships, in Hong Kong in May 2017. [7] She competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia. [8] She was selected for the World Judo Championship in Tokyo, in August 2019. [9]

Coached by Devu Thapa, she received a scholarship from the Nepalese Olympic Committee in 2022. [10] [11] She competed at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. [12]

She was selected for the 2024 Paris Olympics in July 2024 in the -57kg category. [2] [13]

Kang Sin-young is a South Korean judoka, who played for the lightweight category. She won a silver medal for her division at the 2008 Asian Judo Championships in Jeju City, and bronze at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar.

Danielle Zangrando is a retired Brazilian judoka who competed in the women's lightweight category. She picked up a total of thirty medals in her career, including three from the Pan American Games, and a bronze from the 1995 World Judo Championships in Chiba, Japan, and also appeared in the 57-kg class in two editions of the Olympic Games. Growing up in Santos, Zangrando took up judo at the age of 5 following her brother to the dojo of sensei Paulo Duarte. Throughout most of her sporting career, Zangrando trained under Duarte as a full-fledged member of the judo squad for Santos FC Judô.

Phupu Lhamu Khatri is a Nepali female judoka and Olympian. She won a gold medal for Nepal at the 2016 South Asian Games, and went on to bag the Female Player of the Year Award at the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award in the same year.

Tsukasa Yoshida is a Japanese retired judoka. Yoshida won a bronze medal in the women's 57 kg competition, and silver medal in mixed team at the 2020 Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan.

Kabiraj Negi Lama is a notable figure in Nepalese Para Taekwondo. He is a successful coach who has significantly contributed to the sport in Nepal. Under his coaching, Nepal has won 10 international official medals, including 3 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze. He is a former Nepali taekwondo player, coach of the Nepal National Para Taekwondo Team, and the 2020 Summer Paralympics coach. He has participated in various taekwondo competitions. He is also the grandson of former minister Tilak Bahadur Negi Lama.

Soniya Bhatta is a Nepali professional judoka, she represents Nepal internationally in Judo Tournament in the Extra-lightweight (48 kg) event.
