Manu Manjith is an Indian lyricist and poet in Malayalam language. He is also doctor in Homeopathy Psychiatry. He began his film career with the Malayalam film Ohm Shanthi Oshaana in 2014. Since then, he has brought out many chart-toppers including "Neelambalin" from Oru Vadakkan Selfi to "Thiruvavaniraavu" from Jacobinte Swargarajyam . [1] He is a frequent collaborator of Shaan Rahman since 2014. Presently he is working as a psychiatric consultant in Sarada Krishna Homoeopathic Medical College, Kulasekharam. He is popularly known as Doctor Lyricist.

Early years

After successfully completing his formal education, he joined Government Homoeopathic Medical College Calicut to do his course in Bachelor in Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery. During his school and college days, he actively participated in Malayalam versification and story writing competitions.

Other works

In 2016 he wrote the lyrics for the official theme song of Manjappada, the largest supporters group of Kerala Blasters FC. [9] The song was performed by Shabareesh Varma while Nikhil Thomas composed the song. In 2020, the wrote two songs for the Yennum Yellow , which is an album produced by Kerala Blasters as a tribute its fans. [10] "Uyire" song from the movie Minnal Murali has received many applauds. He also redefined the style of devotional songs through his song Kripakari Devi from the movie Aravindante Athidhikal . Manu also collaborated multiple times with Project Malabaricus, the band formed by singer Sithara Krishnakumar. [11]

Girish Puthenchery was a Malayalam lyricist, poet, Scriptwriter and screenwriter. He was referred to as the aristocratic lyricist of Malayalam who had a distinctive writing style of his own. He also served as the director of Indian Performance Rights Society Malayalam division (I.P.R.S) and governing council member of the Kerala Kalamandalam and Kerala Lalithakala Academy. He debuted with the movie Enquiry in 1989. He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Lyricist seven times. He also holds the record for writing the highest number of songs in the Malayalam film industry within the briefest period of time. He died on 10 February 2010 at a private hospital in Kozhikode.

Mohan Sithara is an Indian music composer. He received the Kerala State Film Award for the Best Music Director (2009) for the songs in Priyanandan's Soofi Paranja Kadha. Since 1986 he has been an active musician in the Malayalam film industry. His work mixes Western, Classical and folk styles. He has worked with lyricists and poets like O. N. V Kurup, Yusufali Kechery, Sreekumaran Thampi, Rajeev Alunkal, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, S. Ramesan Nair, Vinayan, Bharanikkavu Sivakumar, Anil Panachooran, Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma, Gireesh Puthenchery, and Bichu Thirumala. Many prominent singers have sung his songs, including K. J. Yesudas, P. Jayachandran, M. G. Sreekumar, K. S. Chithra, Sujatha Mohan, Madhu Balakrishnan, G. Venugopal, Shreya Ghoshal, Vidhu Prathap, Afsal, Manjari, Jyotsna Radhakrishnan and Biju Narayanan.

Renji Panicker is an Indian actor, scriptwriter, director, film producer, and journalist best known for his Malayalam films. He made his debut as a director with Bharatchandran IPS in 2005.

The Kerala State Film Award for Best Lyricist is an honour, begun in 1969, presented annually at the Kerala State Film Awards of India to a lyricist for best lyrics in a Malayalam film. Until 1997, the awards were managed directly by the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Government of Kerala. Since 1998, the awards have been constituted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, an autonomous, non-profit institution functioning under the Department of Cultural Affairs (Kerala). The awardees are decided by an independent jury constituted every year by the government. They are announced by the Minister for Cultural Affairs and are presented by the Chief Minister.The first Kerala State film Awards ceremony was held in 1970 with Vayalar Ramavarma receiving the award for Nadhi and Kadalpalam (1969). O. N. V. Kurup is the most honoured lyricist with 14 awards, followed by Gireesh Puthenchery with seven.

Jacobinte Swargarajyam is the soundtrack to the 2016 film of the same name directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, starring Nivin Pauly and Renji Panicker. The album featured five songs composed by Shaan Rahman with lyrics written by Manu Manjith, B. K. Harinarayanan, Rzee and Ashwin Gopakumar. The soundtrack to the film was released on 20 February 2016 through Muzik 247, preceded by the lead single "Dubai". The album opened to positive reviews from music critics.
