Manuel F. Cabal (December 2,1910 - 1987) is a Philippine Constabulary General who served as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from January 1949 to December 1961. He was appointed by President Carlos P. Garcia vice being the Chief of Philippine Constabulary.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are the military forces of the Philippines. It consists of three main service branches;the Army,the Air Force,and the Navy. The President of the Philippines is the Commander-in-Chief of the AFP and forms military policy with the Department of National Defense,an executive department acting as the principal organ by which military policy is carried out,while the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines serves as the overall commander and the highest-ranking officer in the AFP.

The Reform the Armed Forces Movement,also referred to by the acronym RAM,was a cabal of officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) known for several attempts to seize power in the Philippines during the 1980s and 1990s. In 1986,some of these officers launched a failed coup d'état against Ferdinand Marcos,prompting a large number of civilians to attempt to prevent Marcos from wiping the RAM rebels out. This eventually snowballed into the 1986 People Power revolution which ended the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos and forced him into exile. RAM later attempted six coups d'état against the administration of Corazon Aquino.

Ernesto S. Mata was a Filipino General and the 15th Secretary of National Defense of the Republic of the Philippines,serving in that capacity from 21 January 1967 to 3 February 1970.
Flaviano Ponce Olivares (1911-1997) was a Philippine Brigadier general and a three-time recipient of Distinguished Service Star and a single Military Merit Medal. He graduated in 1936. Olivares was a Constabulary Zone Commander at Panama Canal Zone in 1961,following by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines a two years later,and becoming a Commanding General for the 1st Infantry Division by 1964. In 1965 he became a chief in Philippine Constabulary. He died on December 23,1997,after being diagnosed with aneurysm of the abdominal aorta at age 86.
Manuel Tirso Tecson Yan,Sr. was a Cabinet Secretary of the Aquino,Ramos and Estrada administrations,World War II veteran and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from 1968 until 1972. He was said to be the last replaced official and obstacle to Ferdinand Marcos,and whose resignation made it possible for the ex-President to declare martial law in 1972. He holds the singular Philippine Government Record of continuous longest serving public Officer from April 1937 to January 2001 or a total 63 years and 9 months spanning twelve Philippine Presidents.
