Manuel Cabal (December 2,1910 - 1987) is a Filipino Lieutenant General who served as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from 1958 - 1960. He also served as Chief of Philippine Constabulary from 1957 - 1958.
Cabal was born on December 2,1910,in Botolan,Zambales to father Macario Cabal and mother Mercedes Flores. [1]
Cabal attended Philippine Constabulary Academy and graduated in 1928. He was a Constabulary Officer,until he transferred to 21st Infantry Division in Bataan. He fought the Japanese and became a POW after the fall of Bataan. He was released after 3 months and joined guerilla movement. After the war he rejoined the Philippine Constabulary in 1945 upon Philippine liberation.
In 1956,President Ramon Magsaysay appointed him as Chief of the Philippine Constabulary. [2] After General Alfonso Arellano died in office in 1958,Cabal was appointed by President Carlos P. Garcia as Chief of Staff,Armed Forces. [3]
He retired in 1961 and was replaced by Lieutenant General Pelagio Cruz. He died in 1987 due to prostate cancer. Police Camp in Zambales was named after him. [4]
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are the military forces of the Philippines. It consists of three main service branches;the Army,the Air Force,and the Navy. The President of the Philippines is the Commander-in-Chief of the AFP and forms military policy with the Department of National Defense,an executive department acting as the principal organ by which military policy is carried out,while the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines serves as the overall commander and the highest-ranking officer in the AFP.

He then briefly served as Executive Secretary under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Vicente Podico Lim was a Filipino brigadier general and World War II hero. Lim was the first Filipino graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Prior to the establishment of the Philippine Army,he served as an officer in the Philippine Scouts. During the Battle of Bataan,Lim was the Commanding General of the 41st Division,Philippine Army (USAFFE). After the fall of the Philippines he contributed to the Filipino resistance movement until his capture and subsequent execution.

Paulino Torres Santos Sr. was a military officer who became the Commanding General of the Philippine Army from May 6 to December 31,1936. Rafael Ledesma Jalandoni was a Philippine Constabulary officer who served as the 3rd Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He was appointed by President Manuel Roxas in 1946 after gaining independence from United States. He retired in 1948.
Romeo C. Espino was a Filipino general who served as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from 1972 to 1980.

The Vice-Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (VCSAFP) is the second highest military officer in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. As principal assistant of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,he or she assists in administrative matters and in their operational duties,as well as in policy conceptualization and implementation matters in the AFP,while Chief of Staff focus on military operations and the country's security. The Vice-Chief of Staff also assists the AFP Chief of Staff in their absence and presides the meeting on the AFP Chief of Staff's behalf. The Vice-Chief of Staff holds a rank of 3-star officer as Lieutenant General or Vice Admiral (O-9) and is appointed by the President of the Philippines who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

Leoncio Tan,is a Philippine Army Brigadier General who became its 11th Commanding General. He is also a World War II veteran who fought in Battle of Bataan. He was also appointed by President Ramon Magsaysay as fifth Director of National Bureau of Investigation in 1954.
