Narciso Abaya is a retired Philippine Army General who served its 32nd Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and 6th under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He also served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the AFP prior appointment as Chief of Staff. He is now the President and CEO of Bases Conversion and Development Authority where he was appointed by President Arroyo in 2004 upon his retirement from Military service. [1] [2]
Abaya was born in Caoayan,Ilocos Sur on October 4,1948. He passed the entrance test for Philippine Military Academy entered in 1966. While in his first year there he took entrance exam for US Military Academy and passed. He attended USMA in WestPoint,New York and finish his bachelor's degree in 1971. He holds master's degree in Civil Engineering in Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and topped the Civil Engineering examinations in 1974.
He has a Master of Business Administration diploma from University of the Philippines where he graduated with honors.
Upon obtaining additional studies in USA,Abaya came home and assigned to engineering unit. He however found himself to be an aid to then Chief of Staff General Fabian Ver in Malacanang Palace. After Ver's departure in 1986 he was moved to regular unit. There he experiences commanding units in combat with New People's Army and Moro Rebels in Mindanao.
He was appointed to command Southern Luzon Command based in Lucena,Quezon and December 2001 he was appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff of Armed Forces and promoted Lieutenant General. He was appointed again by President Arroyo to command AFP Southern Command which provided fatal results to Abu Sayyaf and communist insurgents. He was appointed as Chief of Staff of AFP when General Santiago was nearing his retirement age. He served until October 29,2002,before retiring from military service. [3]
Abaya was appointed as president and CEO of Bases Conversion and Development Agency which handles transactions that handles conversion of the land.

Cardozo Manalo Luna is a retired three-star general and the 35th Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Cardozo Luna also served as the commander of two unified commands,Eastern Mindanao Command and Central Command. He served as the Philippine Ambassador to The Hague,Netherlands from 2009 until 2010 He is the current Undersecretary of Department of National Defense.
Alexander Badong Yano is a retired Philippine Army general who served as the 38th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,the highest position in the AFP hierarchy. His Vice Chief of Staff was Lt. Gen. Cardozo M. Luna and his Deputy Chief of Staff was Lt. Gen. Rodrigo F. Maclang. Alexander Yano also served as the commander of the Philippine Army and Southern Luzon Command. He is also the first general born from Mindanao

The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP) is the highest-ranking military officer and the head of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP),including all service branches under its command. The position is usually held by a four-star rank of General or Admiral. Its direct equivalent in the US Armed Forces is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Concurrently,he headed the National Task Force on the Whole of Nation Initiative and was also the executive Director of the National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea. He was succeeded by Gregorio Pio Catapang as AFP chief.
Edilberto Pardo Adan served as executive director with the rank of Undersecretary in the Presidential Commission on the Visiting Forces (PCFV) from 2007 to 2013 after retirement from the military service in 2006. He was a member of the Independent Commission Against Private Armies in 2010. He retired from the Armed Forces of the Philippines in 2006 as Commanding General of the Southern Command (SouthCom) with the rank of Lieutenant General.
Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana,OLH,KGOR is a retired Philippine Army general who served as Chairman of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority from 2022 until September 2024. He previously served as Secretary of National Defense in the Cabinet of President Rodrigo Duterte from 2016 to 2022. He served in the Philippine Army from 1973 to 2004.
Glorioso Ventura Miranda is a retired Filipino soldier who is the former Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
