Maoritrechus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are at least three described species in Maoritrechus, found in New Zealand. [1] [2]
These three species belong to the genus Maoritrechus:
Kookaburras are terrestrial tree kingfishers of the genus Dacelo native to Australia and New Guinea, which grow to between 28 and 47 cm in length and weigh around 300 g (11 oz). The name is a loanword from Wiradjuri guuguubarra, onomatopoeic of its call. The loud, distinctive call of the laughing kookaburra is widely used as a stock sound effect in situations that involve an Australian bush setting or tropical jungle, especially in older movies.
Pocket gophers, commonly referred to simply as gophers, are burrowing rodents of the family Geomyidae. The roughly 41 species are all endemic to North and Central America. They are commonly known for their extensive tunneling activities and their ability to destroy farms and gardens.
Eohippus is an extinct genus of small equid ungulates. The only species is E. angustidens, which was long considered a species of Hyracotherium. Its remains have been identified in North America and date to the Early Eocene.
The Philippine bulbul is a songbird species in the bulbul family, Pycnonotidae.
The Siskiyou chipmunk is a species of rodent in the family Sciuridae. It is endemic to northern California and central Oregon in the United States.
Sarcophaga is a genus of true flies and the type genus of the flesh-fly family (Sarcophagidae). The members of this cosmopolitan genus are frequently known as common flesh flies. There are more than 1000 species in Sarcophaga.
Doleschalla is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Euthera is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Gymnoclytia is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Phasia is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Phytomyptera is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Dexia is a genus of flies in the family Tachinidae. Most larvae are parasitoids of beetles (Scarabaeidae).
Exoristinae is a subfamily of flies in the family Tachinidae. Most species are parasitoids of caterpillars.
Blondeliini is a tribe of parasitic flies in the family Tachinidae. Larvae are parasitoids of other insects, mostly beetles and caterpillars. Although nearly cosmopolitan, its greatest diversity is in the New World and especially in South America.
Eryciini is a tribe of flies in the family Tachinidae.
Phasiinae is a subfamily of flies in the family Tachinidae. Except for the small tribe Strongygastrini members of this subfamily attack only Heteroptera.
Oarotrechus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. This genus has a single species, Oarotrechus gracilentus. It is found in New Zealand.
Kettlotrechus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are about five described species in Kettlotrechus, found in New Zealand.
Kupetrechus is a genus in the ground beetle family Carabidae. There are at least three described species in Kupetrechus, found in New Zealand.
Tachininae is a subfamily of flies in the family Tachinidae.
