Cowley County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. As of the 2010 census, the county population was 36,311. Its county seat is Winfield, and its most populous city is Arkansas City.

Tribes in the western part of the state were semi-nomadic and hunted large herds of bison.

Geography

Maple Township covers an area of 35.11 square miles (90.9 km2) and contains no incorporated settlements. According to the USGS, it contains two cemeteries: Red Bud and Star Valley.
